2) Will this T strike work on a hollow metal frame, or is it only for wood jambs?

On a hollow metal frame you are working with the factory strike prep, so the deciding factor is whether that prep is the T cutout at 1-1/8 by 2-3/4; if it is, the plate seats in it.
