1) Will a Pro-Lok wrap plate fit my door if the lock bore is 2-1/8 inch with a 2-3/4 inch backset?
That is exactly the prep this wrap plate is cut for: a 2-1/8 inch bore on a 2-3/4 inch backset, on a door 1-3/4 inches thick. If your opening uses the other common backset, 2-3/8 inches, the bore will not line up with the existing hole. Measure from the door edge to the center of the knob or lever hole before ordering.
2) Can I use this wrap plate to repair a door that was kicked in around the lock?
That is the main job for it. The Pro-Lok wrap plate wraps the edge of the door and covers the lock area on both faces, reinforcing split or gouged material around the bore and stiffening the edge against another forced-entry attempt. It works on wood or metal doors and covers a 5 by 14 inch area around the lock.
3) Does this wrap plate work with ADA lever handles, or only with knobs?
It is made for levers. The plate is an ADA compliant lever wrap and clears ADA lever handles as well as key-in-lock trim, so you can put it on an opening that has to stay lever-operated for accessibility.
4) Will this wrap plate work on a 1-3/8 inch interior door?
No. The wrap is formed for a 1-3/4 inch door, which is the standard commercial thickness. On a 1-3/8 inch door, the common older interior thickness, the wrap would sit loose on the edge and the two faces would not clamp properly.
5) My doors have off-center lock bores. Will this still line up?
The plate is punched for both centered and standard off-centered bore positions, so it covers the two layouts you normally run into on 2-3/4 inch backset prep. Anything cut to a non-standard position will not match.
6) Is this wrap plate only for commercial doors, or can I use it on apartment units?
Both. Pro-Lok rates the wrap for residential, commercial and industrial use, so property managers commonly run the same part across apartment entry doors and back-of-house openings as long as each door is 1-3/4 inches thick with a 2-1/8 inch bore on a 2-3/4 inch backset.
