1) What wattage steps can I set on the RAB A22 area light in the field?
Each A22 ships with a three-position wattage selector, and the steps you get depend on which model you order. The A22-70 runs 70/60/50W, the A22-100 runs 100/80/60W, the A22-150 runs 150/120/100W, the A22-200 runs 200/180/160W, and the A22-320 runs 320/280/250W. So you pick the family that brackets your target load, then trim on site. Across the whole range the A22 covers 70W through 320W.
2) Will the RAB A22 run on 480 volt site lighting circuits?
Yes, but it is a separate catalog number. Order the /480 suffix (A22-70/480, A22-100/480, A22-150/480, A22-200/480, A22-320/480) for 480V with 0-10V dimming. Everything without that suffix is the 120-277V universal driver, also 0-10V dimming. The two are not field convertible, so the service voltage has to be settled before the order goes in.
3) Should I use Type III or Type IV optics for a parking lot pole light?
Type III throws a wider forward pattern and suits poles set along the interior rows or edges of a lot where you want spill across the drive aisle. Type IV pushes the light forward in a tighter pattern, which is what you want on perimeter poles and building-mounted positions where you do not want light going behind the pole onto a property line. On the A22, Type III is available in all five wattage families and in bronze, black and white; Type IV is offered in bronze, in the 70, 100, 150, 200 and 320 wattage families on the 120-277V driver.
4) Does the RAB A22 accept a photocell or wireless control node?
It has a 7-pin receptacle on top, so it takes an ANSI twist-lock photocontrol or a 7-pin networked control node, and the two extra pins carry the 0-10V dimming leads through to that node. The driver itself is 0-10V dimming on both the 120-277V and the 480V versions. If you are not using controls, the receptacle needs a shorting cap.
5) Can I match the color temperature of the RAB A22 to the existing lights on my property?
The A22 is CCT selectable from 3000K to 5000K, set at the fixture, so one part number covers a warm 3000K to match residential-adjacent areas or a 5000K to match most existing commercial parking lot LEDs. For a property manager standardizing across a campus, that means you can stock a single wattage family and dial each pole to match what is already up.
6) I need a 250W replacement for an old metal halide pole light. Which A22 do I order?
Order the 320 family, which is field settable to 320, 280 or 250W. That gives you the 250W setting directly plus headroom if the site needs more after a night walk.
