1) Which RAB A22 area light does each lens kit size fit?
The A22 optical lens kits are sized to the fixture wattage group. Small kits (A22-70/100LENS2T, 4T and 5T) fit the A22-70 and A22-100. Medium kits (A22-150/200LENS2T, 4T, 5T) fit the A22-150 and A22-200. Large kits (A22-320LENS2T, 4T, 5T) fit the A22-320. The lens is not interchangeable between those groups, so order by the fixture you actually have on the pole.
2) What is the difference between Type II, Type IV and Type V optics on the RAB A22 lens kit?
They change the shape of the light pattern, not the output. Type II is a narrow elongated distribution used along roadways, walkways and narrow drive aisles. Type IV throws forward in a wide half pattern, which is what you use on a building wall or at the perimeter of a lot where you do not want light behind the pole. Type V is symmetric all the way around, for a pole in the middle of an open parking area. All three are offered in each of the three A22 kit sizes.
3) Can I change the optics on an A22 area light already installed on a pole?
Yes, that is the point of the kit. The A22 uses interchangeable optics, so a field crew can swap the existing lens for a Type II, IV or V without replacing the luminaire or re-doing the pole wiring. Useful when a lot gets re-striped, a building is added, or a photometric plan comes back showing spill onto a neighboring property.
4) Is the RAB A22 lens kit a complete light fixture?
No. It is an optical accessory only, catalogued as non-fixture, meaning there is no LED board, driver, housing or mounting arm in the box. You need an existing RAB A22 area light to put it on. If you are lighting a new lot from scratch, order the A22 luminaire itself and the lens kit only if you need a distribution other than what the fixture ships with.
5) I have a mix of A22-100 and A22-200 fixtures on one site. Can I order one lens part number for all of them?
No, they take different kits. The A22-100 uses the small kit and the A22-200 uses the medium, so a property with both needs two part numbers, for example A22-70/100LENS5T and A22-150/200LENS5T if you are standardizing on Type V. Count your poles by wattage before you order.
