RAB DLPLATE/WFR6 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size wafer downlights does the RAB DLPLATE mounting plate fit?
The DLPLATE Series plates are made for RAB WFR wafer downlights in two sizes, and you pick the one that matches your fixture: DLPLATE/WFR4 for 4 inch WFR wafers and DLPLATE/WFR6 for 6 inch. There is no single plate that covers both diameters, so order the plate to match the wafer size going in the ceiling.
2) Can I use a RAB DLPLATE/WFR6 plate with a 4 inch wafer light?
No. The plates are size-specific: the WFR6 is the 6 inch plate and the WFR4 is the 4 inch. Mixing them leaves the fixture without proper support at the opening. Match the plate part number to the wafer diameter.
3) Do I need a mounting plate for a RAB WFR wafer downlight, or does it install without one?
A wafer downlight is built to spring-clip into a cut hole in the ceiling, so the DLPLATE is what you add when there is no suitable hole to clip into, or when the fixture needs a defined support point rather than the ceiling material itself. If you are retrofitting into an existing round cut-out sized for the wafer, you do not need the plate. Buy the plate when you are mounting to a structure or opening the wafer cannot grip on its own.
4) I am ordering RAB WFR wafer downlights for a whole floor - what part number do I add for the mounting plates?
Order DLPLATE/WFR4 alongside 4 inch WFR wafers and DLPLATE/WFR6 alongside the 6 inch ones, one plate per fixture that needs it. If the job mixes both diameters, that is two separate line items, not one universal plate.
