1) Will the RCI 6507 electric strike work with a 5/8 inch latch projection?
That's exactly what the 6507 is built around. The low-profile version takes a 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch latch projection, and the standard profile takes 3/4 inch. Latch throw on the 6507 is listed at 5/8 inch, so measure the bolt projection on the lock you're keeping before you pick the profile. Order the wrong profile and the keeper geometry won't hold the latch correctly.
2) Does the RCI 6507 electric strike work with a mortise lock, or is it cylindrical only?
Both. The 6507 is rated for cylindrical locks and for mortise exit and latch locks, and it's non-handed, so the same strike goes into a left or right hand frame without ordering a hand. What decides fit isn't the lock case, it's the latch projection: 1/2 or 5/8 inch on the low profile, 3/4 inch on the standard.
3) Can the RCI 6507 be set to fail-safe, or do I have to order a fail-safe version?
No separate part number needed. Fail-secure and fail-safe are field selectable on the 6507, configured at the strike during install rather than specified on the order. That matters on a stair or exit door where the fire alarm interface has to release the strike on power loss, and it means one strike on the shelf covers both conditions across a building.
4) My frame cut-out from the old strike is ragged and doesn't line up. Will the RCI 6507 cover it?
Two things help on a retrofit. The 6507 carries a 6-7/8 inch round corner faceplate and ships with a trim plate to cover an irregular frame cut-out, and it has 1/4 inch (6.4mm) of horizontal adjustment to bring the keeper into line with the latch without recutting the frame. Beyond that range you're back to frame work.
5) Is the RCI 6507 electric strike rated for a high traffic entrance?
It's a heavy-duty commercial strike: 500,000 cycles, 1,500 lbf static strength and a 70 ft-lb dynamic rating. It's certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1, UL 294 Listed, and UL 1034 Burglary-Resistant Listed. That's the spec set for a main entry or tenant door taking constant use, not a light-duty interior strike.
6) Can I use the RCI 6507 on a fire rated door?
No. The 6507 is not fire rated. On a labelled fire door opening you need a fire rated electric strike, which holds the latch mechanically under fire conditions and is always fail-secure. Use the 6507 on non-rated commercial openings, and specify a fire rated strike where the door carries a label.
7) What voltage and current does the RCI 6507 electric strike need?
12 or 24 VAC/VDC, field selectable at the strike, drawing 375mA at 12VDC. Because it takes both AC and DC at either voltage, it drops onto most existing access control power supplies without adding a separate transformer. Size your supply against the 375mA figure plus everything else on that circuit.
8) What does the LM/KM monitor option add on the RCI 6507, and do I need it?
