1) Will the RCI 7308 electric strike work with my cylindrical lockset, or is it only for mortise locks?
Both. The 7308 is built for cylindrical locks as well as mortise exit and latch locks, and it accepts a 5/8 inch (16mm) latch projection. If the latchbolt on your lock throws more than 5/8 inch, this is the wrong strike for that opening.
2) Is the RCI 7308 fail-safe or fail-secure?
The 7308 is supplied fail-safe, so the door releases when power drops. Fail-safe is the choice when the opening has to allow free passage on a power failure; if you need the door to stay locked without power, you want a fail-secure strike instead. The 7 Series is offered in both modes.
3) Can I use the RCI 7308 electric strike on a fire rated door?
No. The 7308 carries no fire rating, and fail-safe strikes release the latch on power loss, which is not what a fire door assembly needs. For a rated opening, specify a fire rated fail-secure electric strike.
4) What voltage options does the RCI 7308 come in and what does it draw?
Order it in 12 VDC or 24 VDC. Current draw is 280mA at 12VDC, and the unit operates on 11-16VAC, 12VDC or 24VAC/VDC. Size your access control power supply for that draw plus whatever else shares the circuit.

6) Do I have to order a left or right hand version of the RCI 7308?
