1) Does the RCI A71 electric strike body come with a faceplate, or do I order that separately?
The A71 modular strike body ships with a lip bracket and hardware pack, but the faceplate is a separate order. That is the point of the modular design: you pick the faceplate that suits the frame and the lock you are latching into, and it mates to the same body. Budget the job for two line items, body plus faceplate, or the strike arrives without the part that fits the frame cutout.
2) What voltage does the RCI A71 strike body need, and can I run it off my existing 24V access control power supply?
Four voltage builds are offered: 11-16 VAC, 12 VDC, 24 VAC, and 24 VDC. A 24 VDC panel output pairs with the 24 VDC body, and a 24 VAC transformer with the 24 VAC one. Voltage is fixed at the point of order, not a field-selectable jumper, so match it to the supply you already have before you buy.
3) Can I use an RCI A71 electric strike on a fire rated door opening?
No. The A71 body is not fire rated, so keep it off labeled fire door openings. It is also fail-secure, which means it stays locked when power drops, and a fire rated opening needs hardware carrying a label for that use. For a rated opening you need a fire rated electric strike, not this one.
4) Is the RCI A71 fail-safe or fail-secure, and what happens on a power failure?
Fail-secure. Cut the power and the A71 keeps the door locked, with the keeper holding the latch. Egress from the inside still works through the lock's own lever or exit device, since a fail-secure strike never controls the inside side. If your opening has to release and free-swing when power drops, for example a stair door on a fire alarm interface, this is the wrong operation and you want a fail-safe strike instead.
5) Will an RCI A71 strike body work with 7 Series strike faceplates I already have on other doors?
Yes, the A71 body is built for 7 Series strike configurations, so it drops into a 7 Series assembly and takes 7 Series faceplates. That is what makes it useful for a property manager standardizing a building: you can keep one body on the shelf and change the faceplate per frame instead of stocking a whole strike per opening type.
6) I am replacing just the electric strike guts in an existing RCI 7 Series frame prep. Can I reuse the frame cutout?
If the existing hardware is a 7 Series strike, yes, the A71 body is made for that configuration and the faceplate is what defines the frame cutout.
