1) My door frame stop is less than 2 inches wide and the 8371 MiniMag won't mount flat. What do I need?
That's exactly what the RCI FB Series filler bar is for. It's a mounting spacer that goes behind the 8371 Surface MiniMag on frame stops narrower than 2 inches (51mm), giving the magnet a full mounting surface where the stop alone won't support it. On a stop 2 inches or wider you don't need one.
2) Will an RCI filler bar work with any electromagnetic lock?
No. The FB Series filler bar is built for the 8371 Surface MiniMag and nothing else. A full-size mag lock uses a different housing footprint and different mounting hole pattern, so this bar won't line up. If the magnet on your opening isn't an 8371 MiniMag, this is the wrong spacer.
3) What finishes does the RCI FB filler bar come in, and will it match my MiniMag?
Two finishes: 628 anodized aluminum (brushed, the standard match for aluminum storefront and most MiniMag housings) and 695 dark bronze for bronze-anodized frames. Both are offered across every model number in the series, so you can pick the bar you need and still get the finish that matches the rest of the opening.
4) There are a lot of RCI FB model numbers. What am I actually choosing between when I order one?
The FB Series is a family of filler bars and filler plates, and the model number is the selection you make. There are 18 of them: 1 through 5, 20 through 24, 710 through 713, and 720 through 723. Each one is a different bar or plate for a different frame condition, so the model is picked off the opening, then the finish (628 or 695) is picked to match. Order the model, not just the series.
5) Does the RCI filler bar come with the magnet, or do I order the 8371 separately?
The filler bar is a mounting accessory on its own. The 8371 Surface MiniMag electromagnetic lock, its armature, and the power supply are separate orders. If you're specifying a narrow-stop opening from scratch, you need the magnet plus the correct FB model for the stop condition.
6) I'm standardizing MiniMag installs across a building with mixed frame types. Can I use the same filler bar everywhere?
Not necessarily. The filler bar is selected against the frame stop, so openings with different stop widths and frame profiles can take different FB models even when they all get the same 8371 MiniMag. Openings with a stop 2 inches or wider may need no bar at all. Survey the stops first, then order per opening; the finish can stay consistent across all of them.
7) Is the RCI FB filler bar an aluminum part that will hold up in an exterior storefront entry?
It's anodized aluminum, brushed, which is the same material and treatment as the storefront framing it mounts to. Anodizing gives it corrosion resistance for exterior-facing entries, and the 695 dark bronze option is anodized as well. It's specified for commercial use.
