RCI RCI-LEKS603 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the RCI LEKS603 lip extension kit actually do on an electric strike?
The LEKS603 adds exactly 3 inches of lip reach to an RCI S6 Series Standard Profile electric strike. You use it when the standard strike lip is too short to meet the door face properly, which happens on frames set back from the door, deep reveals, or misaligned openings. It bolts to the strike body and does not change how the electronics work.
2) Will the LEKS603 fit any RCI electric strike, or only certain ones?
Only the RCI S6 Series Standard Profile strikes. It is built for that body and lip geometry specifically, so it is not an extension to use on other RCI series or another manufacturer's strike. If your existing strike is not an S6 Standard Profile, this part is the wrong one.
3) Is the LEKS603 a complete strike, or an add-on part?
Add-on only. It is a lip extension accessory, not a strike, so it has no keeper, solenoid, or wiring of its own. You order it alongside or in addition to an RCI S6 Series Standard Profile electric strike, and you follow the strike's own installation instructions for mounting it.
4) I'm a property manager replacing a strike where the frame sits back from the door. Do I need a lip extension?
If the strike lip does not reach far enough to guide the latch and cover the gap between frame and door face, an extension is the fix rather than shimming the strike. The LEKS603 gives 3 inches of extra lip on an S6 Series Standard Profile strike. Measure the gap first: if you need less than the full 3 inches of added reach, a shorter extension is the better match.
5) Does adding a lip extension affect how the electric strike releases?
No. The extension only lengthens the lip surface the latch rides across; the keeper, solenoid, and fail-safe or fail-secure behavior of the S6 strike are untouched. What it can affect is latch alignment, so set the strike so the latchbolt still seats fully in the keeper after the extension is on.
6) Is this RCI extension rated for commercial traffic in a school or hospital?
It is a commercial-duty part, and RCI lists it for commercial access control work including educational, healthcare, retail, industrial, government, and multi-tenant residential openings. The duty limit on the opening comes from the S6 strike itself, not the lip extension.
7) How do I confirm the LEKS603 is the right extension length before ordering?
Check the RCI product catalog for the S6 Series lip extension options and match the required reach to your frame condition. The LEKS603 is the 3 inch version; RCI publishes the S6 accessory listing in its catalog at https://zensupply.com/content/pdf/dormakaba/1523906919-rci-1001-ca-en-product-catalog-08-25.pdf.
