Sta-Kon B433 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What wire sizes does the Sta-Kon B433 ring terminal accept?
The B433 is built for 18-14 AWG conductor. That single barrel covers the common control and signal wire range, so one terminal handles 18, 16, and 14 gauge without switching part numbers. Outside that range you need a different Sta-Kon barrel size.
2) Does the B433 terminal carry a UL listing?
Yes, it is covered under UL file E9809. That is the reference an inspector or a spec writer will want when the terminal goes into a listed panel or control assembly.
3) Is the Sta-Kon B433 insulated or bare?
Bare. It is a non-insulated rectangular ring terminal, so there is no nylon or vinyl sleeve over the barrel. Plan on heat shrink or sleeving if the application needs the crimp covered, and note that non-insulated barrels are what you want when the terminal has to sit in a high heat spot where insulation would break down.
4) Why is the B433 called a rectangular ring terminal instead of just a ring terminal?
The tongue is rectangular rather than round. That flat-sided tongue seats between adjacent terminals on a crowded block without the tongue edges climbing onto the neighboring screw, which is why panel builders spec it on tight terminal strips. Electrically it does the same job as a round ring: closed barrel on 18-14 AWG wire, closed tongue hole over a No. 6 stud so it cannot back off like a spade would.
5) I have a B433 on an old drawing. Is there a current replacement part number?
The B433 now maps to product ID 7TAI029620R0018. If your purchasing system or BOM still calls out the legacy B433 designation, that is the number it corresponds to today.
6) Can I crimp the B433 with a standard uninsulated terminal tool?
It is a non-insulated barrel, so it takes an uninsulated crimp die, not the color-coded insulated nests. Use the die station matched to the 18-14 AWG range. Insulated-terminal jaws will not form the barrel correctly on a bare terminal and you will get a mechanically weak joint.
7) Is the Sta-Kon B433 made in the USA?
Country of origin is the United States. That matters if the job runs under domestic-content procurement rules and you need the terminations documented along with everything else in the enclosure.
