1) Will the S&G 6730 safe lock retrofit an existing safe or ATM without redrilling the door?
The 6730 lock case uses Sargent & Greenleaf's "magic module" footprint, which is what makes it a drop-in on existing containers already prepped for that pattern. If your current lock body sits on that S&G footprint, the swap is a mounting-plate-for-mounting-plate exchange. If the container was prepped for a different manufacturer's pattern, the case will not line up.
2) How many combination wheels does the Sargent & Greenleaf 6730 have, and when would I want four instead?
Three wheels, so the combination is a three-number left-right-left sequence. If your security policy or your insurer calls for a four-number combination, the 6731 is the four-wheel version of the same series (6731-004 as a lock body, or 6731-111 with a D225 Spy-Proof key locking dial and ring). Everything else about the wheel pack and bolt construction carries across.
3) Does the S&G 6730 come with the dial and ring, or do I have to order those separately?
The 6730-100 ships as a complete package: three-wheel lock body with a standard bolt plus a D300/R211 front reading black and white dial and ring. The bare lock body with no dial hardware is a different part, 6730-010. Order the -010 only if you are reusing a dial and ring you already have mounted.
4) Is the Sargent & Greenleaf 6730 a UL Group 2 lock?
The 6700 series is a UL Group 2 mechanical safe lock, built for high-security, high-traffic use such as ATMs, gun safes and bank containers. That is the classification most commercial safe and ATM specifications call out by name, so if your drawing or your insurer says Group 2 mechanical, this series meets that call.
5) What is the difference between the Sargent & Greenleaf 6730-100 and the Arrow BM-LB lock body?
Both are 6730 series safe lock parts, but they cover different halves of the job. The Arrow BM-LB is a lock body on its own, so it is the part you order when the container already has a serviceable dial and ring and only the case needs replacing. The Sargent & Greenleaf 6730-100 is a three-wheel lock with the D300/R211 front reading black and white dial and ring included, so it covers a complete changeout where the dial goes on with the body. If you are replacing a whole assembly, the 6730-100 arrives ready to mount; if you are swapping only the case behind an existing dial, the Arrow BM-LB is the narrower part.
6) What dial options are there on the S&G 6730 three-wheel safe lock?
Five dial and ring configurations on the three-wheel 6730, and the choice is about who can read the combination over your shoulder and whether the dial itself locks. The Arrow BM-LB is a 6730 series lock body, so it is not the part to reach for when the requirement is a four-wheel wheel pack.
10) What keeps a mechanical safe lock from drifting open under vibration on an ATM?
