Sargent & Greenleaf Spartan Pivot Bolt Electronic Safe Lock

The Spartan is a two-user, motor-driven pivot bolt safe lock built on the S&G magic module footprint. It installs without special tools or drilling and mounts in any orientation: left hand, right hand, up, or down. The Spartan electronic safe lock mounts to the standard S&G magic module footprint, so it drops onto a safe already prepped for that pattern with no special tools or drilling. It is also universally handed, meaning it mounts left hand, right hand, up, or down depending on how your bolt work runs.
2) Does the Spartan safe lock have to be ordered in a specific hand for my safe door?
No hand to specify. Spartan is non-handed and mounts in any of four orientations, so the same lock works on a right hand or left hand swing and on bolt work that runs vertically.
3) How many people can be set up with codes on the Sargent & Greenleaf Spartan lock?
Two users total: one master code and one user code. The manager holds the master and can add, delete, or enable and disable the user code from the keypad, and there is a Management Reset Code as well. All of it is field programmable, so you set it up on site rather than ordering codes. If you need more than two credentials on a container, this is the wrong lock for it.
4) Is the Spartan a bolt-blocking lock or does it move the safe bolts itself?
It's a blocking lock, not a bolt driver. A motor-driven mechanism moves the small lock bolt to block or release the container's bolt work, and the lock bolt retracts and extends with the movement of the safe's own bolt work. That means the handle does the work of throwing the main bolts. It also re-locks automatically whenever the bolt work returns to fully closed, so nobody has to remember to secure it.
5) What keypad style is the chrome Spartan and how is it different from the other Spartan keypads?
This one is the non-rotating low profile keypad in Bright Chrome. Spartan keypads also come as a one-battery keypad, a two-battery keypad, and a quick-mount keypad. One thing to know before you choose: direct drive is only available on the low profile rotating keypad, so if your application calls for direct drive, the non-rotating version is not the one to order.
6) How much force will the Spartan lock bolt take before it gives?
The lock bolt is rated to withstand 225 lbs of bolt-end pressure in bolt work blocking applications, and it's stainless steel. That is the figure that matters if someone is prying or hammering the safe handle, since the load transfers through the bolt work onto that bolt.
7) What battery does the Spartan safe lock use and how often will I be changing it?
One 9V alkaline battery, tested up to 10,000 openings on a single battery. The keypad gives a low battery signal before it quits, so you get warning rather than a dead lock. Battery life is helped by the motor-driven mechanism, which draws less than a solenoid arrangement.
