The 11-34 is a rim type cylinder built with a 27/32 inch (21mm) screw pattern for through-bolted Sargent exit devices. That screw spacing is the thing to check: if your device is a through-bolted Sargent rim exit, the pattern matches. A rim cylinder is not interchangeable with a mortise cylinder, so if the device takes a threaded mortise cylinder with a cam, this is the wrong part.
2) Can a Sargent XC cylinder be added to a building that is already keyed on conventional Sargent cylinders?
Yes, and that is the point of the XC system. XC keys operate both XC cylinders and conventional cylinders in one key system, so the 11-34 can go into most existing Sargent systems without starting a new keyway. Compatibility has to be confirmed against your key records before the order is cut, since the existing system's keyway and bitting decide it, not the cylinder.

Solid brass body, with a cap available in brass, bronze or stainless steel. Brass is what a cylinder body is normally machined from because it pins and keys cleanly; the cap choice is where corrosion exposure matters, so a stainless cap is the one for an exterior exit door.
9) Is the Sargent 11-34 rim cylinder meant for commercial use or residential doors?
Commercial. It is specified for offices, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial and warehouse buildings, multi-tenant residential and government facilities, and it exists to serve through-bolted Sargent exit devices, which is commercial door hardware.
