SATCO Lighting S11820R1 6.7W LED Downlight Retrofit, 4in, CCT Selectable, Square, White Finish, 120V

A selector on the fixture picks one of five color temperatures: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K or 5000K. You set it per fixture at install, before the trim goes up. For a property manager standardizing a building, that means one stocked part covers warm residential corridors at 2700K or 3000K and cooler back-of-house or garage spaces at 4000K or 5000K. Wattage is fixed at 6.7W, so changing the CCT does not change the draw or the 600 lumen output.

The S11820R1 carries a Wet location rating, so it can go over a tub or in a shower and in covered exterior soffits and porch ceilings, provided the recessed housing it goes into is itself rated for that location. The retrofit does not upgrade the rating of the can. It is cETLus Listed.

Title 24 compliant, and cETLus Listed, which covers the fixture side of a California residential recessed lighting install. It is also FCC compliant and RoHS compliant, which is what institutional and government specs usually ask for on the paperwork.

The housing is aluminum, which acts as the heat sink for the LED, and at 6.7 watts the fixture generates a fraction of the heat an incandescent lamp did in the same can. Whether the assembly can be buried in insulation is governed by the existing housing's IC or non-IC rating, not by the retrofit. If the can is non-IC, keep insulation clear of it as you did before.

Optically nothing, the light output is the same. The S11820R1 is the square trim in white, 5.31 inches across the face on a 4 inch can. Square trims are usually specified to match existing square downlights in a corridor or lobby, or paired with square supply diffusers in a commercial ceiling. If the other openings in the building are round, order the round trim instead so the ceiling reads consistently.

Satco publishes the installation instructions for the S11820R1 at assets.satco.com, and they cover the connection method and what ships in the box. The fixture is a 120V, 60Hz recessed retrofit, so the electrical work is a line voltage connection at the existing can. Full specifications are at media.satco.com/specsheets/pdf/S11820R1.pdf.
