One thing to plan for: the IP20 rating applies to the enclosure's ingress protection, so the fixture is the wet-rated component while the remote driver is a separate box that needs to sit in a protected, accessible spot.

The trim measures 6.69 x 6.69 x 0.90 inches, so the square face overlaps a standard 6 inch round rough opening on every side. Depth is the reason people buy it: at 0.90 inches the housing is shallow enough for a ceiling with almost no plenum, since the driver is remote rather than sitting behind the fixture. It mounts recessed and wires direct, so there is no lampholder or can required.

Color is selectable at install. The S11877 switches between 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K on the fixture itself, which is what makes it worth stocking as a single SKU across a portfolio: warm 2700K or 3000K in apartment living space, 3500K or 4000K in corridors and back of house, 5000K in utility and parking areas. Wattage is not selectable, so output stays at 12W and 750 lumens whichever color you pick.

It also means the electronics, the part that fails long before the LEDs, sit somewhere you can reach without disturbing the ceiling. The tradeoff is install labor: you have to locate and mount the driver box in an accessible space and run the low-voltage leads to the fixture. If you have full joist bay depth and want a one-piece install, an integral-driver canless downlight is the simpler job.

It is a 120V, 60Hz dimmable fixture, wired direct rather than screwed into a socket. Because the dimming happens through the remote driver, the driver is what has to match your wall control, so check the driver's dimming protocol against the dimmer you are installing before you commit a whole floor to one control. Line voltage is standard 120V branch circuit, no transformer or separate supply needed.

Black only. The S11877 ships in a black finish with an aluminum body, and it is a square trim, so it will read as a deliberate contrast next to white round trims rather than a match. If the goal is blending into an existing white ceiling grid, specify a white round trim instead. Where black is the design intent, the aluminum construction also gives it the heat path an edge-lit LED needs in a shallow housing.

It is a direct wire recessed fixture with an integrated LED source, so there is no can and no lamp to buy separately. What you do have to account for is the remote driver: it is a separate component that must be mounted and connected, and Satco publishes the wiring and cutout detail in the S11877 instruction sheet at assets.satco.com. Read that before cutting the ceiling, because the driver location and lead length drive where you can place the fixture.
