Satco Lighting S21313 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I use this LED candle bulb in an enclosed outdoor fixture?
Yes on both counts. The S21313 is an enclosed rated lamp and carries a Wet location rating, so it is good for sealed outdoor sconces, post lanterns, and covered entry fixtures as well as enclosed indoor fixtures. Burning position is universal, so it can be installed base up, base down, or horizontal.
2) What incandescent bulb does this 4W Satco LED replace?
It replaces a 40W incandescent candle lamp, putting out 350 lumens at 4 watts. Current draw is 0.033A at 120V, 60Hz, so a circuit that was carrying a handful of 40W candles will carry a large number of these without concern.
3) Is the Satco S21313 dimmable on an existing wall dimmer?
The lamp is dimmable. It is a 120V LED at 4 watts, so the practical issue in older buildings is the dimmer, not the bulb: legacy incandescent dimmers often have a minimum load far above 4W, and a few lamps on one circuit may flicker or not dim smoothly. On an LED-rated dimmer it performs normally. It is not a three-way lamp, so do not use it in a three-way socket expecting multiple levels.
4) Is this clear filament candle bulb bright enough to light a room, or is it decorative?
Treat it as decorative or accent light. At 350 lumens with a clear glass envelope and an LED filament, the point is the visible filament in exposed chandeliers, sconces, and vanity fixtures. The 300 degree beam spread throws light nearly all the way around, so a multi-lamp chandelier adds up, but a single 4W lamp will not light a room on its own.
5) Will 3000K at 90 CRI match the warm white candle bulbs already in my building?
3000K is warm white, a step cooler and crisper than the 2700K soft white most incandescent candles ran at, so mixing it on the same fixture with 2700K lamps will show a visible difference. Across a corridor or lobby of fixtures it is consistent as long as you standardize on 3000K. The 90 CRI rendering is high enough for hospitality and retail spaces where skin tones and finishes matter, and it is noticeably better than the 80 CRI commodity lamp.
6) Does the Satco S21313 meet California Title 24 for high-efficacy lamps?
Yes, the S21313 is listed as Title 24 compliant, which matters if you are specifying lamps for residential or multi-family work in California. It is also FCC compliant. It is not a DLC-listed product, so it will not qualify under utility rebate programs that require DLC listing.
7) How long will these candle LEDs last in a lobby fixture that runs long hours?
Average rated life is 15,000 hours. On a fixture burning roughly 12 hours a day that is a bit over three years before relamping, which is why these go into chandeliers and high-ceiling sconces where access costs more than the lamp. Glass envelope with a nickel plated aluminum base.
8) Is the color temperature on this bulb switchable?
No. The S21313 is a fixed 3000K lamp, not CCT selectable, so there is no switch on the base to change color. If you need to set the color on site, you need a different selectable lamp.
