Satco Lighting S21315 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I use this 4W Satco CA10 LED in an enclosed fixture or outdoors?
Yes on both. It's an enclosed rated lamp, so a sealed globe or lantern housing is fine, and it carries a wet location rating for indoor or outdoor use. It can also be installed base up, base down, or horizontal since the burning position is universal.
2) What incandescent bulb does this 4 watt LED candle replace, and will it be as bright?
It replaces a 40W incandescent candle lamp, putting out 350 lumens at 4 watts on 120V. Light output spreads over a 300 degree beam angle, so it throws light around the lamp rather than in one direction, which is what you want in a chandelier or open sconce.
3) Will this 2700K Satco candle lamp match the warm white bulbs already in my building's fixtures?
At 2700K it's the warm, slightly yellow tone of a traditional incandescent, so it blends with existing incandescent or 2700K LED lamps. It won't match 3000K or 4000K lamps in the same chandelier. Color rendering is 90 CRI, which is noticeably truer on skin tones and wood finishes than the typical 80 CRI lamp, so if you're mixing in a lobby or guest room, standardize on the 90 CRI product across the fixture. It is a fixed color temperature lamp, not CCT selectable.
4) Does this Satco LED candle bulb meet California Title 24 for a residential lighting job?
Yes, the S21315 is Title 24 compliant, which is what you need for high-efficacy lighting in California residential work. It is also FCC compliant. It is not DLC listed, so if your utility rebate program requires DLC qualification, this lamp won't qualify for it.
5) Is the Satco S21315 dimmable, and will it work on a three-way socket?
Dimmable, yes. Three-way, no. It's a single-output lamp, so in a three-way socket it will light at one level only. Dim performance also depends on the dimmer itself being LED-compatible; older magnetic incandescent dimmers often flicker at low end with a 4 watt load that draws only 0.033A.
6) How long does the Satco 4W CA10 LED filament lamp last, and does the exposed filament look matter?
Rated at 15,000 average hours. It's an LED filament design rather than a diode array, but with a frost finish the filaments are diffused rather than fully exposed, so you get an even glow instead of visible bright strands. Pick a clear CA10 instead if you want the decorative filament look in an open fixture.
7) Can I run this LED candle bulb on 277V or on a 50Hz supply?
No. It's a 120V, 60Hz lamp only. For a 277V commercial circuit you need a line-voltage lamp rated for it, or a step-down. Putting a 120V lamp on 277V will destroy the driver immediately.
8) What is the Satco S21315 made of, and how much does one bulb weigh?
Glass envelope on a nickel plated aluminum base, and each lamp weighs 0.044 lb. That light weight matters on hanging chandeliers and pendant sockets where you're loading a lot of lamps on one fixture.
