Yes. The S39902 is a Type B ballast bypass lamp, so the fixture's fluorescent ballast has to be removed and line voltage wired directly to the sockets. Leaving the ballast in circuit is not how this lamp is meant to run. It accepts either single-ended or double-ended wiring, so it works with whichever socket wiring scheme the electrician uses in the retrofit.

4000K is a neutral or cool white, the common office and corridor color for commercial fluorescent replacement. It reads whiter than 3500K and warmer than 5000K daylight.
