1) Can I just drop the Satco S8532 PL lamp into my existing CFL fixture without rewiring?
No. The S8532 is a Type B ballast bypass lamp, direct wire only on 100V-277V. The existing CFL ballast has to be removed and the socket wired straight to line voltage before the lamp will work. If you want a plug-and-play lamp that runs on the existing ballast, this is not the one.
2) Does the Satco 9W LED PL lamp fit a G24q 4-pin socket?
It does not. The lamp has a G24d 2-pin base, so it only seats in a 2-pin G24d socket. A 4-pin G24q fixture needs a 4-pin lamp, or the socket has to be changed out as part of the ballast bypass rewire.
3) Can this PL LED lamp be mounted vertically in a downlight?
Burning position is horizontal. The lamp is intended to run on its side, as in a wall sconce or a horizontal PL downlight can. For a vertical base-up or base-down can, pick a PL lamp rated for vertical operation.
4) Is the Satco S8532 approved for a fully enclosed fixture?
Yes, it is an enclosed rated lamp, so it can go in sealed or gasketed PL fixtures without voiding the rating. Location rating is damp, which covers covered walkways, bathrooms, and stairwells, but not wet locations with direct water exposure.
