1) Does the Satco S8535 LED PL lamp need the existing fluorescent ballast, or does it bypass it?
It's a Type B ballast bypass lamp, so the fluorescent ballast has to be removed or bypassed and line voltage wired directly to the sockets. If you leave the ballast in the circuit, the lamp won't operate correctly. Plan on a licensed electrician rewiring the fixture; that's the trade-off for eliminating the ballast as a future failure point.
2) Will a G24d 2-pin LED lamp fit my existing CFL sockets?
The S8535 uses a G24d 2-pin base, which drops into G24d 2-pin CFL sockets. It will not fit 4-pin G24q sockets. If your existing lamp has four pins, this isn't the right part. Check the pin count on the lamp you're pulling out before ordering.
3) Can I install the S8535 LED PL lamp in a horizontal fixture?
It's specified as a vertical lamp, so it's intended for sockets oriented for vertical mounting, typical of recessed downlights. For a horizontal socket, such as a wall sconce or many wraparound fixtures, you want the horizontal version of the PL lamp instead.
4) What wattage fluorescent PL lamp does the 9W Satco S8535 LED replace?
