It replaces a 50 watt halogen MR16 while drawing 6.5 watts, putting out 500 lumens at a 0.542 amp draw. On a low voltage run, that drop from 50W to 6.5W per lamp is what lets you put more heads on the same transformer, though you need to confirm the transformer has a low enough minimum load to fire with LED lamps on it.

Enclosed rated, so it is approved for sealed fixtures where heat builds up, and it carries a Damp location rating. Damp covers covered porches, soffits, bathrooms, and canopies. It is not rated for wet locations, so keep it out of anything exposed to direct rain or hose spray.

At 4000K this is a neutral or cool white, noticeably whiter than the 2700K to 3000K warm tone most halogen MR16s and residential LED replacements produce. If the rest of the fixtures are warm, this one will read blue-ish next to them. 4000K suits retail, office, lobby, and corridor applications where a crisper white is wanted. The color is fixed, not field selectable.

The lamp itself is dimmable. On a 12V system the dimming behavior depends on the transformer as much as the lamp, so match the dimmer type to the transformer (magnetic versus electronic) and check the transformer's minimum load. At 6.5 watts per lamp, a small number of heads on an older magnetic transformer can fall below the minimum and flicker or refuse to dim smoothly.

The S9493 renders at 80 CRI, which is the standard grade for general commercial and office work and fine for corridors, lobbies, and back of house accents. For merchandise where color fidelity sells the product, apparel, cosmetics, food, art, buyers usually specify 90+ CRI instead. Decide on the space before you standardize a building on this lamp.

No on both counts. It is not DLC listed, so it will not qualify for utility rebate programs that require a DLC listing, and it is not BAA compliant, which rules it out of federal jobs carrying a Buy America(n) requirement. It is FCC compliant.

Burning position is universal, so it can run base up, base down, or horizontal without affecting performance. That matters for uplights, monopoints, and gimbal trims aimed at a ceiling or a wall.

Rated at 25,000 average hours. On a 12 hour a day retail schedule that is roughly 5.7 years of service, which is why property and facility buyers swap halogen MR16s out: halogen in the same socket typically runs a few thousand hours.

It is lensed with a clear cover over the reflector and a gray housing. The clear lens keeps the beam definition of the 25 degree spread rather than diffusing it, and the cover means no exposed LED array collecting dust in an open trim.
