Schlage 10-112 Dust Box, Metal, Use with 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" Strikes

The 10-112 is the metal cup that sits behind the strike in the door frame, boxing in the hole the latchbolt drops into. It keeps mortar, insulation and frame debris out of the latch pocket so the bolt throws all the way and the door pulls up tight. On a new frame prep or a strike replacement where the old box is crushed or missing, you want one. It is a Schlage replacement part, sized for 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inch strikes.

Schlage lists it against the B500 deadbolt line and the S200 series. If you are replacing a strike or a crushed box on either of those, the 10-112 is the matching part, provided the strike measures 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches.

Stainless steel, not plastic. That matters in two places: exterior and damp openings where a plated box would rust out behind the strike, and high traffic doors where the bolt is hitting the box thousands of times. In a wood frame it also gives the bolt a metal surface to land on instead of chewing out the jamb over time.
