Schlage 35-270 Key Blank, Embossed

The 35-270 is a sectional blank for the Schlage S family, so it enters all S-family keyways. Six keyways are offered on it: S000, S123, S124, S125, S135 and S145. Pick the one that matches the keyway stamped on your existing key or cylinder, because the sectional milling on the blade is what decides whether it enters the plug.

Keying is a required selection: keyed different (KD, the standard) or keyed alike (KA) when you want multiple locks to run on one key. There is also an optional key code field, so if your cylinders were originally keyed to a code on file you can supply that code and have the keys cut to it rather than bitted to a new random combination.

Order the blank in the keyway your existing cylinders use, choose keyed alike so every key in the batch runs the same, and enter your key code in the code field so the cuts match what is already installed. Without a code, the keys come bitted to a new combination and will not turn your current cylinders.

The keyway designation is embossed into the bow of the blank, so the S000, S123, S124, S125, S135 or S145 marking is readable on the finished key after cutting. For a property manager or maintenance shop running several keyways across a building, that stamp is how a key gets identified back at the board without test-fitting it in a door.

S000 is the general S-family sectional keyway; S123, S124, S125, S135 and S145 are separate sections within the same family. Physically the blade milling differs, so a key cut on one section will not enter a plug broached for another. That separation is the point: it is how a facility keeps one tenant's or one department's keys out of another's cylinders. Match the section to what is stamped on your cylinder or existing key.

No handing. The 35-270 key blank is non-handed, so the same part serves a left-hand and a right-hand door. Handing lives in the lock chassis, not the key.

It is a commercial-rated blank, which is what you want for a facility running a keyed-alike or master-keyed program across many openings. The six sectional keyways offered (S000, S123, S124, S125, S135, S145) are the ones used to keep separate key sets from crossing between areas in the same building.
