1) Will this Schlage indicator kit work with rose trim or a different L Series escutcheon?
No. The kit is cut for 06N escutcheon trim only, meaning the N escutcheon paired with the 06 lever. Rose trim, other escutcheon designs and other lever styles won't take it. Check the trim tag or the existing escutcheon before ordering, because the trim is what the indicator window mounts into, not the lock body.
2) Does the Schlage L Series indicator kit come with the lock and lever, or just the indicator?
Indicator only. The lock and the lever(s) are not included, so this is a retrofit part for an opening that already has the L Series privacy lock and 06N trim hanging on it. If you're building a new opening from scratch you need the lock, the lever and the escutcheon ordered separately alongside this kit.
3) I have older Schlage L283-442.06 indicators on my doors. Can I swap them for this one?
Yes. This is the Gen 2 indicator and it replaces the L283-442.06 series directly, so an opening already carrying that older indicator on 06N privacy trim takes this one. That makes it a straight update path if you're refreshing indication across a floor or a building without pulling the locks.

No. This kit is built for the coin turn version of the L Series privacy lock. A thumbturn privacy lock is a different inside trim and the indicator won't retrofit to it. Confirm the inside of the lock takes a coin or screwdriver slot rather than a knurled turnpiece before you order.
