1) Will the Schlage 30-007 mortise housing work on an L9060 exterior?
No. The 30-007 FSIC mortise housing is built for Schlage L Series mortise locks except the L9060 exterior, so if you're cylindering an L9060 exterior trim you need a different housing. On the rest of the L Series it's the right shell.
2) I have an SFIC keying system already. Can I keep my existing cores and just replace the mortise housings?
That's exactly what this part is for. The 30-007 is a full size interchangeable core mortise housing, so your existing SFIC cores stay in service and keep their keying, and you swap only the shell. Useful when a housing is damaged or when you're converting mortise locks over to your core system without rekeying anything.
3) Is a Schlage L cam the same as an A01 cam, and what happens if I fit the wrong one?
They are not interchangeable by name alone. The 30-007 carries the Schlage L cam, part L583-255, which is what drives the L Series mortise lock's retractor. A cam with the wrong shape or throw will turn but won't move the lock case, so the cylinder feels fine on the bench and does nothing in the door. If your lock is a Corbin Russwin mortise, the cam callout there is a different family, for example the A02 straight cam on the Corbin Russwin 1000 Series or the A01 cloverleaf on the 1070.
4) We are replacing cylinders in aluminum storefront doors with Adams Rite deadlocks - does the 30-007 work there?
The 30-007 is built for Schlage L mortise locks other than the L9060 exterior, so it is not the part for an Adams Rite narrow stile deadlock. The Adams Rite 4036 is a Grade 1 mortise cylinder in the 4036 series with five-pin security and a 1/2 inch minimum door thickness, and the 4025 is a five pin tumbler cylinder pull with through-screws designed for the Adams Rite MS1847 deadlock and deadlatch. Order against the lock body already in the stile.
5) What is the closest equivalent to the Schlage 30-007 mortise housing if I need an interchangeable core version instead of a modular Schlage cylinder?
