Schlage B302-041 626 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Schlage B302-041 rose and turn actually replace on a B500 deadbolt?
It's the interior side trim for a Schlage B500 Series single cylinder deadbolt: the rose (the round plate against the door face) plus the thumbturn you rotate to throw the bolt. It is not a lock and not a cylinder, so it won't fix a key or bolt problem. Order it when the turn is loose, broken, or worn, or when the interior finish no longer matches the rest of an opening.
2) Do mounting screws come with the Schlage B302-041 thumbturn kit?
No screws in the box. Plan on reusing the through-bolts and mounting screws off the deadbolt you're servicing, or having correct-length replacements on hand before the truck rolls. Everything else you need for the inside face, rose and turn, is included.
3) Is the B302-041 thumbturn for a single cylinder or double cylinder deadbolt?
Single cylinder. The inside face gets a thumbturn, which means the bolt operates by hand from inside with no key. If your opening has a keyed cylinder on both faces (a double cylinder deadbolt, common on glass-front and sidelight doors), this trim will not go on it, you need the inside cylinder for that configuration instead.
4) My tenant snapped the thumbturn off the deadbolt. Do I have to replace the whole lock?
Not if the bolt and cylinder still work. The B302-041 covers just the interior rose and turn on a Schlage B500 single cylinder deadbolt, so a broken or spinning turn is a trim swap rather than a full lock replacement. Pull the inside trim, fit the new rose and turn, and reuse the deadbolt body already in the door. You will need the original mounting screws, since none ship with it.
5) What finishes does the Schlage B302-041 rose and thumbturn come in?
Nine, and they follow standard BHMA finish codes so you can match the rest of the opening by number rather than by eye: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 609 antique brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, and 643E aged bronze. For a fleet of doors, order by the code stamped on your existing hardware and the interior trim will match across the building.
6) Is the Schlage B302-041 rose and turn strong enough for a commercial door with heavy traffic?
It's a commercial-grade part, built with a stainless steel substrate, so it's specified for the same duty as the B500 deadbolts it serves rather than for residential use. That matters on the thumbturn in particular, since it's the piece taking the daily hand torque on a tenant entry or a back-of-house door.
