1-3/4 inches is exactly what the CO-200 cylindrical lock is built for, and it is the only thickness stated for it. That is the standard commercial door thickness, so most steel and solid core openings take it straight off. If your doors are thinner older interior leaves at 1-3/8 inches, or thicker than 1-3/4, look at something with a stated range instead: the Cal-Royal CAL30 covers 1-3/8 to 2 inches and the Dorma C150 covers 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches, though neither of those is an electronic access control lock.

No cylinder is in the box on the less-cylinder builds, and that is a real line item on your order. You pick the cylinder prep: B for a 7-pin SFIC that takes Schlage, Falcon or competitive OEM cores, J for a 6-pin Schlage full size IC, or L for a 6-pin Schlage or Falcon key-in-lever. Those three all need the core supplied to match your existing keying. Option P is the Schlage standard conventional cylinder, which is the one that comes complete. Locksmiths standardizing a building on an existing SFIC system will normally want B or J and pull cores from stock.

Classroom/storeroom means the outside lever stays locked at all times and a valid credential or the key retracts the latch for entry; the inside lever always allows free egress. Nobody can leave the outside lever unlocked by accident, which is why it suits classrooms, storage, IT and mechanical rooms. What it does not do is let a teacher lock the door from inside the room, since there is no inside control. The CO Series also builds office and privacy functions if you need those instead. The CO-200 with the proximity reader is meant to run on the same credential your perimeter already issues, so staff carry one card for the front door and the interior openings. Card format compatibility should be confirmed against your existing credential before you commit a large order.

That is the whole appeal for retrofit work in an occupied building, since the opening does not have to be cut for wire. If your project actually wants wired control tied to an access panel, an SDC Electra 7200 solenoid cylindrical lock runs on 12/24VDC instead.

Grade 1 heavy duty, and it carries UL 10C along with UL 294 for access control, UL Canada, FCC Part 15 and ADA. The cylindrical version meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1, and the 70 classroom/storeroom function is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor, which matters if the opening sees weather. Those are the numbers a spec writer or an institutional buyer needs on the submittal.

The TownSteel FCE-2000 is the nearest match on paper: a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID technology in a classroom function, on 1-3/4 inch doors. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 cylindrical lock in classroom/storeroom function with a proximity reader, also on 1-3/4 inch doors. Both read a card at the lever rather than running wire back to a panel, so either can be dropped into an opening that currently has a mechanical cylindrical lockset. The CO-200 is offered less cylinder in Schlage, Falcon and competitive OEM 7-pin SFIC, Schlage 6-pin FSIC, and Schlage/Falcon 6-pin KIL preps, which matters if the building is already keyed on one of those systems.

The CO-200 covered here is the proximity reader build, so a card is the credential at the door. Two ways. Manual programming at the lock covers basic use, and for anything larger you manage it with PC based Schlage Express software, then carry the changes to the door with the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device and an SUS-A cable. There is no network drop and no gateway, which is the tradeoff: no live monitoring, but no IT project either. It shares an offline system with the AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000, so a mixed set of openings can be managed together.

It comes down to whether you need to know who went through the door. The CO-100 is keypad programmable and nothing more; the CO-200 adds computer programming, 2,000 users, audit trail, holidays and time zones, and card credentials rather than codes only. If the opening just needs a code that a handful of people share and nobody will ever ask for a record, the step up is not worth it. If it is a controlled space, or the code will leak and need auditing, the CO-200 is the one. Simpler keypad-only options from other brands include the Alarm Lock DL2700 and the BEST 9KZ EZ Series.

The closest cross-brand equivalents are the TownSteel FCE-2000, a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID, and the FCE-4000 RFID electronic intruder classroom lockset, both listed at 1-3/4 inch door thickness and heavy duty like the CO-200. If you want keypad rather than card, the TownSteel XCE-2000 is a Grade 1 classroom electronic cylindrical lockset covering 1-3/4 to 2 inch doors. Where the CO-200 differs is the ecosystem: it shares an offline system with the Schlage AD-200 and CO-220 and manages through Schlage Express, so it is the natural pick if the building is already on Schlage.

Not in this configuration. The classroom/storeroom build keeps the outside lever locked and opens on credential, which is the wrong behavior for a room someone needs to secure from the inside. The CO Series does build a privacy function, with a programmable occupancy indication option, so specify that variant instead. The T3 lands closest on capability if the audit record is the reason for the spec, since it also logs entries. A CO-200 in classroom/storeroom function controls the outside of the opening. They are mechanical locks and will not deliver credentials or a record of entry. The Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lock in entry/office function for 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inch doors, and the Stanley QCL200 is a cylindrical lock supplied keyed different with an SC keyway and a 118F ANSI 1-1/8 by 2-3/4 strike. Either is the right call when the opening needs a key and nothing more. The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is a Grade 1 cylindrical keypad lock with pushbutton entry, matching the CO-200 on grade and lock type. The credential is where they part: the NTB613 takes a pushbutton code at the door, while the CO-200 reads proximity cards and can be configured for dual authentication when installed with a keypad plus card reader. The CO-200 also runs on four AA batteries with up to two years of battery life and a status indicator.
