CO-200 OVERVIEW
The CO Series offers ideal solutions for customers seeking the added security and convenience of electronic access control without the cost or complexity of a fully networked system.
The CO-200 steps up significantly in functionality from CO-100 keypad programmable locks. It can be manually or computer programmed with downloads occurring at the lock via the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device. Credential use can include 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards; dual authentication card + PIN readers are available for extra security. More importantly, this lock offers up to 2000 users with audit capability to note the who, where and when of building or room access.
CO-200 can work in the same offline system as AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. They can be manually programmed for basic use or managed with PC-based Schlage Express™ software. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 with added capability that can include lock schedules and audits. Features and capabilities will vary by system; please visit the Software Management tab for additional details.

Schlage Electronics CO-200-CY-50-PR-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Schlage CO-200 electronic lock fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
1-3/4 inch is exactly what the CO-200 cylindrical lock is built for, and it's the only thickness it's rated for. It uses a 2-3/4 inch backset with a 1-1/8" x 2-1/4" square corner deadlatch. If your openings are thinner or thicker, look at something with a range instead: the TownSteel XCE-2000 covers 1-3/4 to 2 inches, and the Dorma C150 cylindrical lock covers 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches.
2) Does the Schlage CO-200 come with a cylinder, or do I have to order one separately?
No cylinder ships with it. The CO-200 is supplied less cylinder in three of the four options, and you pick which prep you want: B for 7-pin SFIC (Schlage, Falcon, and competitive OEM cores), J for Schlage 6-pin FSIC, or L for Schlage/Falcon 6-pin key-in-lever. If you don't already run an interchangeable core system, order option P, which is the Schlage standard conventional cylinder. Buyers on an existing SFIC masterkey system normally take B and drop their own cores in.
3) What does office function mean on the Schlage CO-200, and is it the right function for a classroom?
Office function on the CO-200 lets the lock be left in a passage (unlocked) state during business hours and secured when you want credentials required, which suits tenant suites, admin offices, and conference rooms. It is not the classroom/storeroom function. The CO Series does offer classroom/storeroom and privacy versions, so if you're securing a teaching space specify that function instead of this one. Purpose-built classroom intruder options from other brands include the TownSteel FCE-4000 and XCE-9000.
4) Do I need to specify handing when ordering a Schlage CO-200?
Handing is a required selection, but the CO-200 is field reversible, so you can flip it on site if the door turns out to be the other hand. Choices are field reversible, RH, LH, RHR, and LHR. For a retrofit where you're not standing at the door with a tape measure, field reversible is the safe pick.
5) Will the Schlage CO-200 work with the prox cards we already use at the building entrance?
That's the point of the proximity reader version. The CO-200 reads the same credential used on the building perimeter, so staff carry one card for the front door and for the offices behind it. Credentials can also be a 3 to 6 digit PIN or magnetic stripe, and dual authentication (card plus PIN) readers are available where you want two factors on a sensitive room.
6) Does the Schlage CO-200 need to be wired or connected to a network?
No wiring and no network. The CO-200 is a standalone battery lock running on four AA cells, with up to two years of battery life and a status indicator so you replace them before they die. Programming happens at the door, either manually or by download using the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device. If you want a hardwired lock on a powered access control panel instead, the SDC Electra 7200 Series is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock running 12/24VDC.
7) Will the Schlage CO-200 latch into the strike that's already in my frame?
It ships with a standard ANSI strike, 1-3/16 inch lip, 1-1/14" x 4-7/8", no box. If your frames are already prepped for a 4-7/8 inch ANSI strike, which is the normal commercial steel frame prep, the CO-200 drops straight in with the supplied strike. Wood doors with a small T-strike will need the frame mortised out for the ANSI cutout.
8) Is the Schlage CO-200 rated for a fire door and is it ADA compliant?
Both are covered. The CO-200 is UL 10C listed for fire doors and ADA compliant, carries ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, and is also UL 294 listed for access control and FCC Part 15. As a cylindrical lock it meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 1. That combination is what an institutional spec normally calls for on a rated opening.
9) Can I run the Schlage CO-200 on the same system as our existing AD-200 locks?
Yes. The CO-200 works in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220, and CT5000, so a facility already standardized on those can add CO-200 openings without a second management platform. Manage them manually for basic use or with PC-based Schlage Express software.
10) What is the closest alternative to the Schlage CO-200 office function lock if I need a Grade 1 standalone electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T3 DL3075 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail and keypad access, which puts it in the same standalone, battery-run, audit-capable class as the CO-200 office function lock. The CO-200 is Grade 1 with an office function and a proximity reader, so credentials are cards presented at the lock; the DL3075 is a keypad-credential lock. Choose on credential type: if the site already issues proximity cards on the perimeter, the CO-200 reads the same credential; if the site runs on PIN codes, the DL3075 covers the same opening.
11) Which electronic cylindrical lock uses a card credential instead of a keypad like the Schlage CO-200 does?
The TownSteel FCE-2000 Series is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID technology, making it the card-reading peer to the CO-200 proximity reader model. Both are Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical locks built for 1-3/4 inch doors. The functions differ: the FCE-2000 is a classroom function lock, while the CO-200 covered here is office function. If the opening is a classroom door rather than an office, the FCE-2000 is the card-credential match; for an office opening, stay with the CO-200.
12) Is the Kwikset SmartCode 912TNL a substitute for the Schlage CO-200 on a commercial office door?
No. The Kwikset 912TNL ZW500 SmartCode is a Z-Wave electronic Tustin lever with a keyed one side function, built for doors 1-3/8 to 2 inches. It is a networked residential-style smart lever, not a Grade 1 commercial standalone. The CO-200 is a Grade 1 heavy duty commercial cylindrical lock with a proximity reader and a standalone connection type, holding up to 2,000 users with audit. For a commercial office door under an access control program, the CO-200 is the correct class of product; the 912TNL suits a light-duty opening on a home automation network.
13) What electronic cylindrical lock should I use if the door has to be released from a central access control panel rather than at the lock?
The SDC Electra 7200 Series is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock with dual voltage 12/24VDC, fitting doors 1-3/4 to 2 inches. It takes its release signal from wired power, so it belongs on an opening tied back to a panel or card system elsewhere. The Schlage CO-200 is a standalone lock running on four AA batteries with the credential read at the door itself. Decide by where the access decision is made: at the lock, use the CO-200; at a panel, use the 7200.
14) My doors are thinner than 1-3/4 inches. What electronic cylindrical lock fits where the Schlage CO-200 will not?
The Schlage CO-200 is built for a 1-3/4 inch door. The Alarm Lock Trilogy DL2700 and Trilogy 4100 both fit 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors, and the Lockey E985 and E995 electronic keypad lever locks fit 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors. On an older opening measuring under 1-3/4, the Lockey E985 or E995 range covers thicknesses the CO-200 does not reach. Measure the door leaf at the lock prep before ordering.
15) How many users and how much audit history does the Schlage CO-200 hold?
Up to 2,000 users and an audit trail of up to 2,000 events, so you can see who opened the door, where, and when. That capacity is what separates it from the keypad-programmable CO-100. Alarm Lock's Trilogy T2 DL2700, by comparison, is a 100 user code keypad lock. Holidays and time zones are supported for scheduled auto lock and unlock.
16) What lever styles and finishes can I get on the Schlage CO-200 to match our other doors?
Six lever styles, Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta, and Tubular, in seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, and 643E aged bronze. For a building already running Schlage mechanical locks, picking the matching lever design and 626 satin chrome keeps the electronic openings visually consistent with the mechanical ones.
17) What's the difference between the Schlage CO-200 and the CO-100?
Capability. The CO-100 is keypad programmable only. The CO-200 adds computer programming with downloads at the lock through the SUS mobile app, supports prox and magnetic stripe cards as well as 3-6 digit PINs, and stores 2,000 users with a 2,000 event audit trail. If you need to know who went through the door and when, that's the CO-200; if you just need codes on a door, the CO-100 does that.
18) Is there a heavy duty electronic cylindrical lock alternative to the Schlage CO-200 for a 1-3/4 inch commercial door?
Several, depending on what you need at the door. The TownSteel FCE-2000 is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID, rated heavy duty for 1-3/4 inch doors, closest in credential type to the CO-200's proximity reader. The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 and BEST 9KZ EZ Series are Grade 1 keypad locks if you'd rather issue codes than cards, and the 9KZ includes key override. The CO-200 itself is heavy duty Grade 1 commercial.
19) What do I need besides the lock to program and manage a Schlage CO-200?
Three things to plan for on the order. Cores or cylinders, since none are included. An SUS-A cable and a compatible Android device running Schlage Utility Software if you want to configure or update at the lock. And Schlage Express software on a PC if you're managing a group of doors rather than programming each one by hand. Four AA batteries power the lock itself. Select PACS alliance members also support the CO-200 with added scheduling and audit capability.
20) What is a simpler electronic cylindrical lock than the Schlage CO-200 for a door that only needs a handful of user codes?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is a Grade 1 standalone electronic cylindrical lock with a digital keypad and 100 user codes, and it is IC/SFIC compatible. The CO-200 stores up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events and reads proximity credentials. For a storage room or back-of-house door with a short user list and no card program, 100 codes on the DL2700 is the leaner build; the DL2700 fits doors 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inches, while the CO-200 is built for 1-3/4 inch doors.
21) What is the difference between the Schlage CO-200 and the BEST 9KZ EZ Series for a facility that wants key override on an electronic lock?
The BEST 9KZ EZ Series is an electronic keypad cylindrical lock with a key override function. The CO-200 covers mechanical key override through its cylinder options, which include less-cylinder preps for Schlage and Falcon 7-pin SFIC, Schlage 6-pin FSIC, Schlage and Falcon 6-pin KIL, and a Schlage standard conventional cylinder. The practical split is the credential: the 9KZ is keypad entry, the CO-200 sold here is a proximity reader. Pick the CO-200 prep that matches the cylinder standard already keyed into the facility.
22) If the opening only needs a mechanical office function lever and no electronics, what replaces the Schlage CO-200?
The Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lock with an entry/office function, fitting doors 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches. The Marks USA 195RAB is a Grade 1 Survivor Series entry clutched lever lockset, less core, in an entrance/office function. Both hold the same Grade 1 rating and the same office function as the CO-200, without a reader, batteries, or audit. Use one of these where the opening needs a key and lever only; keep the CO-200 where credentials and an audit trail are part of the requirement.
23) Which electronic lock covers a restroom or dorm room that needs a privacy function instead of the Schlage CO-200 office function?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with a privacy function and keypad, fitting doors 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inches. The CENTRIOS CEB100 Series is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock in a privacy function. The CO-200 covered here is office function, which is not the right control for a restroom or sleeping room. The 4100 works from a keypad; the CEB100 works from a Bluetooth credential.
24) Can I use the Accentra nexTouch NTB613 in place of the Schlage CO-200 proximity model?
Only if the site runs on codes rather than cards. The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is a Grade 1 cylindrical keypad lock with pushbutton entry, so users enter a code at the lever. The CO-200 sold here reads proximity credentials, which lets it work with the same card already carried for the building perimeter. Both are Grade 1 cylindrical locks. If the buildout is standardizing on one card per employee, the NTB613 is not a like-for-like swap.
25) Is the Lockey 1600 or 2830 mechanical keyless lock an alternative to the Schlage CO-200?
They solve a different problem. The Lockey 1600 is a heavy duty mechanical keyless knob lock with adjustable backset and the Lockey 2830 is a mechanical pushbutton keyless knob lock with an auto-locking passage function; both fit doors 1-1/8 to 2 inches and neither uses power. The CO-200 is a battery operated electronic lock with a proximity reader storing up to 2,000 users with audit. If the requirement includes knowing who opened the door and when, a mechanical pushbutton lock does not answer it; if the requirement is only keyless entry on a remote door with no power service, the Lockey units do.
26) What is the difference between the Schlage CO-200 and the SDC E75 for a battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset?
The SDC E75 Series is a battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset with keypad access control, fitting doors 1-3/4 to 2-1/8 inches. The CO-200 is also battery powered, running on four AA cells with up to 2 years of battery life and a status indicator, and it is Grade 1 with a proximity reader on a 1-3/4 inch door. The E75 covers a wider door thickness band; the CO-200 reads cards rather than codes and supports holidays and time zones for scheduled lock and unlock.
27) How does the TownSteel FCE-4000 differ from the FCE-2000 if I am comparing RFID cylindrical locksets against the Schlage CO-200?
Both TownSteel units are Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical locksets on 1-3/4 inch doors with classroom function. The FCE-2000 Series is a standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID technology; the FCE-4000 Series is the RFID electronic intruder classroom version, intended for openings where the room must be secured from the inside. The CO-200 matches their 1-3/4 inch door and Grade 1 rating and reads proximity credentials, but is built as an office function lock rather than classroom.
28) Do the Dorma C501 or Orca OCL2170 dummy levers work as a matching inactive trim for a Schlage CO-200 opening?
They are dummy trim, not locks. The Dorma C501 is a single dummy trim keyless lever lockset, Grade 2, for doors 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches, and the Orca OCL2170 is a Grade 2 half dummy lever, medium duty. Neither latches or controls access. The CO-200 is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock. Use a dummy lever only on the inactive leaf of a pair or a false door; do not order one expecting it to secure the opening.
29) Is the Marks USA 175RF storeroom lever an equivalent to the Schlage CO-200 for a supply room?
Not on rating or credential. The Marks USA 175RF SFIC is a Grade 2 storeroom clutched lever lockset with small format IC less core and a 2-3/4 inch backset. The CO-200 is Grade 1 with a 2-3/4 inch backset and a proximity reader, and it is available in classroom/storeroom, office, and privacy functions. Both share the 2-3/4 inch backset, so the door prep lines up, but the 175RF is a mechanical key-only lock at a Grade 2 rating.

    Keyless Entry Made Easy

Posted by Sam on Feb 8th 2024

Sharing my experience with the Schlage CO-200 Electronic Cylindrical Lock. One thing I absolutely love is the convenience of keyless entry, making it a breeze to access my space. However, programming the lock initially can be a bit confusing, especially for non-tech-savvy users. Overall, it's a great investment for modernizing security!
