CO-200 OVERVIEW
The CO Series offers ideal solutions for customers seeking the added security and convenience of electronic access control without the cost or complexity of a fully networked system.
The CO-200 steps up significantly in functionality from CO-100 keypad programmable locks. It can be manually or computer programmed with downloads occurring at the lock via the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device. Credential use can include 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards; dual authentication card + PIN readers are available for extra security. More importantly, this lock offers up to 2000 users with audit capability to note the who, where and when of building or room access.
CO-200 can work in the same offline system as AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. They can be manually programmed for basic use or managed with PC-based Schlage Express™ software. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 with added capability that can include lock schedules and audits. Features and capabilities will vary by system; please visit the Software Management tab for additional details.

Schlage Electronics CO-200-CY-50-KP-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Schlage CO-200 keypad lock fit a 1-3/8 inch door?
No. The CO-200 cylindrical lock is built for 1-3/4 inch doors only, so a 1-3/8 inch leaf is out of range. If you're working older interior openings at 1-3/8, look at a lock with a range that covers it: the Cal-Royal CAL20 spans 1-3/8 to 2 inches, and the Dorma C150 covers 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches. Neither of those is an electronic access control lock though, so if you need credentials and audit on a thinner door, the Lockey E995 keypad lever lock is listed for 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors.
2) What does the office function do on a Schlage CO-200, and is it the right function for a suite door?
Office function means the lock can be left in a passage state so the door stays free during business hours and then secured again, with credentials controlling entry when it is locked. That fits a tenant suite, an office, or a conference room that needs to be open during the day. The CO-200 also ships in classroom/storeroom and privacy versions, so if the opening must stay latched at all times and only open to a credential, order the classroom/storeroom function rather than office. Privacy is the one to specify for restrooms and lactation rooms, and it can be had with the occupancy indication option.
3) Will the Schlage CO-200 latch into the strike that is already in my frame?
It depends on what is in the frame now. The CO-200 comes with a 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inch square corner deadlatch on a 2-3/4 inch backset, and a 1-3/16 inch lip ANSI strike measuring 4-7/8 inches, supplied without a box. If your frame is already prepped for a standard ANSI 4-7/8 inch strike, which most commercial hollow metal frames are, it drops in. A door bored at a 2-3/8 inch backset will not take it, and a frame with a T-strike or a residential-style faceplate needs to be reworked to the ANSI cutout.
4) Is the Schlage CO-200 rated for a fire door and does it meet ADA?
The CO-200 carries ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 and is UL 10C listed, which is the fire door test standard, along with UL 294 for access control, UL Canada, FCC Part 15, and ADA. The cylindrical version meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1. The 70 function is also certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor. That set covers most institutional spec language for a stairwell, corridor, or exterior opening.
5) Does the Schlage CO-200 need to be wired or connected to a network?
No wiring and no network. The CO-200 is a standalone lock running on four AA batteries, with up to two years of battery life and a status indicator so maintenance sees a low battery before anyone is locked out. Programming happens at the door, either manually or by download using the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device with an SUS-A cable, or managed from PC-based Schlage Express software. That's the point of the CO Series: electronic credentials and audit without the cost of running a fully networked system.
6) What is the closest equivalent to the Schlage CO-200 keypad cylindrical lock from another manufacturer?
The TownSteel XCE-2000 is the nearest peer: a Grade 1 heavy duty electronic cylindrical lockset with a keypad, rated for doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch thick. The CO-200 is also Grade 1 heavy duty with a keypad reader, fitted to 1-3/4 inch doors. The functional difference is what the lock does at the opening - the XCE-2000 is a classroom function lock, while the CO-200 covered here is office function, so the two are not drop-in swaps unless the opening genuinely wants classroom behavior.
7) Is there a simpler keypad lock than the Schlage CO-200 for an opening that does not need audit trail or software management?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is the simpler standalone keypad option - a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with a digital keypad and 100 user codes, IC/SFIC compatible, for doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch thick. The CO-200 carries 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events and can be managed with Schlage Express software or the SUS mobile app. If the door needs a couple dozen codes and no reporting, the smaller user table is the deciding factor; if the facility wants to know who opened the door and when, that capability sits on the CO-200 side.
8) What should I use instead of the Schlage CO-200 on a door thinner or thicker than 1-3/4 inch?
The CO-200 is built for a 1-3/4 inch door. For a range of thicknesses across a building, the SDC E75 Series battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset with keypad access control covers 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/8 inch, and the Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 covers 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. On a mixed-thickness fleet, matching the lock to the leaf you actually have is what keeps the order from coming back.
9) Can I use the SDC Electra 7200 in place of the Schlage CO-200?
They solve different problems. The SDC Electra 7200 Series is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock running on dual voltage 12/24VDC, for doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch - it is wired and driven by an access control panel or remote release. The CO-200 is a standalone battery-operated lock on four AA batteries, with the credential decision made at the door. If there is no wire to the opening, the 7200 is not a substitute; if the opening is already on a wired panel, the 7200 is the one that ties into it.
10) Do I have to specify handing for the Schlage CO-200 electronic lock?
Handing is a required selection on the CO-200, but the lock itself is field reversible, so a right hand door can be converted on site. Order options are field reversible, RH, LH, RHR and LHR. If you're standardizing a fleet of openings and don't want to stock five variations, field reversible is the one to buy.
11) How many users and what kind of credentials will the Schlage CO-200 hold?
Up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events. Credentials can be a 3 to 6 digit PIN, proximity cards, or magnetic stripe cards, and dual authentication card plus PIN readers are offered when you want two factors at the door. The keypad reader version reads PINs at the door. Because it works with the same credential used on the building perimeter, you can extend a card population you already have to interior doors without a second badge.
12) Should I buy the Schlage CO-200 or step down to the CO-100?
Go to the CO-200 when you need to know who opened the door. The CO-100 is keypad programmable only; the CO-200 adds computer programming with downloads at the lock, card credentials alongside PINs, up to 2,000 users, and the audit trail. It also supports holidays and time zones for scheduled auto lock and unlock. If all you need is a code on a single storage room and nobody is ever going to pull a report, that capability is money spent for nothing.
13) What is the alternative to a Schlage CO-200 if I need an electronic keypad lock on a thicker door or one with an intruder function?
Two directions worth knowing. For thickness, the CO-200 is a 1-3/4 inch only lock, while the TownSteel XCE-2000 covers 1-3/4 to 2 inches and the SDC E75 covers 1-3/4 to 2-1/8 inches, both keypad electronic cylindrical locksets. For a classroom intruder function, which the CO-200 does not offer, the TownSteel XCE-9000 and FCE-4000 are Grade 1 classroom intruder cylindrical locksets. If you want to stay with a keypad lock that takes an interchangeable core the way the CO-200's B option does, the Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is Grade 1 and IC/SFIC compatible on 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors.
14) Can I mix Schlage CO-200 locks with AD-200 or CO-220 locks in the same access system?
Yes. The CO-200 works in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000, managed together with PC-based Schlage Express software, so a building already standardized on those locks can add CO-200 openings without a second management platform. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 that can add lock schedules and audits, though features vary by system.
15) Is the BEST 9KZ EZ Series a substitute for the Schlage CO-200 where key override is required?
The BEST 9KZ EZ Series is an electronic keypad cylindrical lock with a key override function. The CO-200 supplies mechanical key override through the cylinder you specify - it ships less cylinder, with preps for Schlage 6-pin FSIC, Schlage and Falcon 6-pin key-in-lever, 7-pin SFIC accepting Schlage, Falcon and competitive cores, or a Schlage standard conventional cylinder. Both give a keyed way in; the CO-200 route is the one that lets the core match the keying system already in the building.
16) Which keypad lock should I choose if the door needs privacy function instead of office function?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with privacy function and a keypad, for doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. The CENTRIOS CEB100 is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock in privacy function. The CO-200 platform does offer privacy alongside classroom/storeroom and office, with an occupancy indication option on privacy locks, but the configuration described here is office function.
17) I want card credentials rather than a keypad - what takes the place of the CO-200 keypad lock?
The TownSteel FCE-2000 Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty standalone motorized cylindrical lockset using RFID technology, classroom function, for 1-3/4 inch doors. The CO-200 keypad configuration reads a 3-6 digit PIN; the CO-200 platform itself also supports proximity and magnetic stripe cards and dual authentication card plus PIN readers, so a card-credential opening can stay on the CO-200 with a different reader or move to the FCE-2000 if classroom function suits the door.
18) How does the Schlage CO-200 compare with a mechanical pushbutton lock like the Lockey 2830?
The Lockey 2830 is a mechanical pushbutton keyless knob lock with an auto-locking passage function, for doors 1-1/8 inch to 2 inch. It needs no power at all. The CO-200 is battery operated on four AA cells with up to two years of battery life and a status indicator, and it holds up to 2,000 users with an audit trail. A single code on a low-traffic door is what the mechanical lock is for; code-per-user and a record of entries is what the electronic lock is for.
19) Does the Alarm Lock T3 DL3075 give the same audit capability as the Schlage CO-200?
The Alarm Lock T3 DL3075 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail and keypad access, in the DL3200 Series. The CO-200 is Grade 1 as well and records up to 2,000 events for up to 2,000 users, with downloads at the lock through the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device or management through Schlage Express software. Both log entries; the difference to check against your facility is the software each one reports into.
20) If the opening does not need electronic access control at all, what mechanical office-function lock replaces the CO-200?
The Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lock in entry/office function, for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch. The Marks USA 195RAB is a Grade 1 Survivor Series entry clutched lever lockset supplied less core. Both give the same office behavior at the door as the CO-200's office function without any credential management, batteries, or software behind it.
21) Can I match the Schlage CO-200 to the lever style and finish already on my other doors?
Six lever designs are offered: Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta and Tubular. Finishes run 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 626AM satin chrome antimicrobial and 643E aged bronze. Property managers replacing one opening in a corridor usually want Rhodes or Sparta in 626, which is the common commercial default. The 626AM antimicrobial finish is the one to specify for patient rooms and food service areas.
22) Is the Schlage CO-200 heavy duty enough for a high traffic commercial corridor?
It's built for it. The CO-200 is a commercial, heavy duty, Grade 1 cylindrical lock, which is the top ANSI/BHMA durability tier and what a spec normally calls for on a main corridor, stairwell, or entry to a tenant space. Many of the keyless cylindrical locks it gets compared against are Grade 2, including the Dorma CL701 and the Orca OCL250, which are a step down in cycle and strength testing.
23) Will a Grade 2 lever lockset work in the same opening as the Schlage CO-200?
Check the grade against the spec before assuming it will. The Marks USA 175RF SFIC storeroom clutched lever is Grade 2, and the Stanley QCL150 entry lever with less cylinder is Grade 2 as well, with a square 2-3/4 inch backset latch and a 4-7/8 inch by 1-1/4 inch ASA strike. The CO-200 is Grade 1 heavy duty with a 2-3/4 inch backset and an ANSI strike measuring 1-1/4 inch by 4-7/8 inch with a 1-3/16 inch lip. The door prep lines up on backset and strike, but an opening specified Grade 1 is not satisfied by a Grade 2 lockset.
