CO-200 OVERVIEW
The CO Series offers ideal solutions for customers seeking the added security and convenience of electronic access control without the cost or complexity of a fully networked system.
The CO-200 steps up significantly in functionality from CO-100 keypad programmable locks. It can be manually or computer programmed with downloads occurring at the lock via the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device. Credential use can include 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards; dual authentication card + PIN readers are available for extra security. More importantly, this lock offers up to 2000 users with audit capability to note the who, where and when of building or room access.
CO-200 can work in the same offline system as AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. They can be manually programmed for basic use or managed with PC-based Schlage Express™ software. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 with added capability that can include lock schedules and audits. Features and capabilities will vary by system; please visit the Software Management tab for additional details.

Schlage Electronics CO-200-CY-50-PRK-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Schlage CO-200 come with a cylinder, or do I have to order one separately?
No cylinder is included. The CO-200 ships less cylinder in three of its four builds, so you supply the core: B takes a 7-pin SFIC core (Schlage, Falcon, or competitive OEM), J takes a Schlage 6-pin full-size IC, and L takes a Schlage or Falcon 6-pin key-in-lever cylinder. The fourth option, P, comes with the Schlage standard conventional cylinder. If you already key a building on SFIC, order the B and drop your existing core in.
2) What does the office function do on the Schlage CO-200, and is it right for a tenant suite door?
Office function means the lever can be left unlocked for business hours and locked when the space is occupied or closed, with the outside lever released by credential. On the CO-200 that pairs with scheduled auto lock and unlock through holidays and time zones, so a suite or office door can open itself in the morning and secure at night without anyone touching it. If you want a door that always relocks behind you, the CO Series also builds in classroom/storeroom and privacy functions instead.
3) Can I use my existing building access cards on the Schlage CO-200, or is it PIN only?
Both. This CO-200 build carries a proximity reader and a keypad, so it reads the same prox credential people already use at the perimeter and accepts a 3 to 6 digit PIN. With both readers on the lock you can run dual authentication, card plus PIN, on a door that needs it. It holds up to 2,000 users and logs 2,000 events of audit trail.
4) Do I need to run wire or a power supply for the Schlage CO-200?
No wiring. The CO-200 is a standalone battery lock running on four AA cells, with a status indicator and up to two years of battery life, so it goes on an interior door with no power at the frame and no head-end. If your opening already has power and you want a lock a panel can release, an SDC Electra 7200 Series solenoid cylindrical lock runs on 12/24VDC instead.
5) Will the Schlage CO-200 latch into the strike that's already in my frame?
It depends what's in there. The CO-200 ships with a 1-1/8 by 2-1/4 inch square corner deadlatch and a 1-3/16 inch lip ANSI strike, 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inches, no box. If your frame is already prepped for a standard ANSI 4-7/8 inch strike, the supplied strike drops straight into that cutout. A frame cut for a small T-strike or a radius corner latch face will need work.
6) Is the Schlage CO-200 Grade 1 and can it go on a fire rated door?
Grade 1, heavy duty, and UL 10C listed for fire doors. The CO-200 also carries ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor rating on the 70 function, UL 294 for access control, UL Canada, FCC Part 15, and ADA. As a cylindrical lock it meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 1. That's the set an institutional spec usually asks for.
7) What are the alternatives to the Schlage CO-200 for a standalone keypad lock on a commercial door?
A few, depending on what you're solving. The TownSteel XCE-2000 Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty electronic cylindrical keypad lockset covering 1-3/4 to 2 inch doors, so it suits a thicker door the CO-200 will not fit. The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is a Grade 1 standalone keypad lock with 100 user codes and IC/SFIC compatibility, sized for 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors, a simpler option when 2,000 users and prox cards are more than you need. The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is another Grade 1 cylindrical pushbutton lock. Where the CO-200 pulls ahead is credential breadth: prox plus keypad, dual authentication, and audit trail.
8) What is the closest equivalent to a Schlage CO-200 electronic cylindrical lock from another manufacturer?
The TownSteel XCE-2000 is the nearest match in a standalone electronic cylindrical lockset. It is a Grade 1, heavy duty electronic cylindrical lock with a keypad, and it covers doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch thick. The CO-200 is also Grade 1 and heavy duty, is battery operated on four AA cells, and is built for 1-3/4 inch doors. The main difference is at the reader: the CO-200 carries a proximity and keypad reader, so it accepts a prox credential as well as a PIN, while the XCE-2000 is a keypad lock. The CO-200 is an office function lock; the XCE-2000 is classroom function.
9) Which electronic cylindrical lock should I use if I need card credentials and not just a PIN?
The Schlage CO-200 with the proximity and keypad reader takes both a card and a PIN on the same lock. Among other electronic cylindrical locks, the TownSteel FCE-2000 is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset that uses RFID technology, and the TownSteel FCE-4000 is an RFID electronic cylindrical lockset as well. The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700, the Alarm Lock T3 DL3075, the TownSteel XCE-2000 and the SDC E75 are keypad locks. If the credential on the building perimeter is a card and you want the same card to work at the room door, the choice narrows to the CO-200 or the RFID TownSteel FCE models.
10) I only need a keypad code on the door, no cards and no audit trail. What is a simpler alternative to the CO-200?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is a Grade 1 standalone electronic cylindrical entrance lock with a digital keypad and 100 user codes, and it is IC/SFIC compatible. The Schlage CO-200 stores up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events and adds proximity credentials alongside the keypad, which is capability you pay for whether you use it or not. For a door where one code list of a hundred names covers the whole population, the DL2700 answers the same opening. Note the door: the DL2700 fits 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch doors, while the CO-200 is built for 1-3/4 inch.
11) My doors are thinner than 1-3/4 inch. What electronic cylindrical lock fits instead of the CO-200?
The Schlage CO-200 is built for a 1-3/4 inch door. For a thinner leaf, the Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700, the Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 and the Alarm Lock DL5200 all cover 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. The Lockey E985 and E995 electronic keypad lever locks cover 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch. Confirm the leaf thickness before ordering, because the electronic chassis is not adjustable the way a mechanical lockset often is.
12) The opening is a classroom, not an office. Which lock do I order instead of the office function CO-200?
The Schlage CO-200 in office function is not the right function for a classroom opening. In electronic cylindrical locks, the TownSteel XCE-2000 is a Grade 1 heavy duty classroom function keypad lockset for 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors, and the TownSteel FCE-2000 is a Grade 1 heavy duty classroom function lockset with RFID for a 1-3/4 inch door. Where the requirement is classroom intruder function, the TownSteel XCE-9000 and FCE-4000 are the classroom intruder versions of those two.
13) Can I use the SDC Electra 7200 in place of a Schlage CO-200?
They solve different problems. The SDC Electra 7200 is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock running on dual voltage 12/24VDC, so it needs power run to the door and a controller or reader to tell it when to release; it covers 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch doors. The Schlage CO-200 is a standalone lock, battery operated on four AA cells, with the reader and the credential list in the lock itself. If the door already has an access control panel and wiring, the 7200 is the door hardware for it. If there is no wiring at the opening, the CO-200 is the one that installs without it.
14) Which electronic cylindrical locks besides the Schlage CO-200 take an interchangeable core?
The Schlage CO-200 ships less cylinder in several core preps: B for Schlage, Falcon and competitive OEM 7 pin SFIC, J for Schlage 6 pin FSIC, and L for Schlage and Falcon 6 pin KIL, with P as the Schlage standard conventional cylinder. Among other electronic cylindrical locks, the Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is IC/SFIC compatible, and the BEST 9KZ EZ Series electronic keypad cylindrical lock has a key override function. If the facility is already keyed on an SFIC system, those are the ones worth pricing side by side with the CO-200 in the B prep.
15) Are the Grade 2 lever locksets an acceptable substitute when a spec calls for a Grade 1 electronic lock?
No. The Schlage CO-200 is Grade 1 and heavy duty. The Marks USA 175RF SFIC storeroom clutched lever, the Marks USA 110AB entry knob, the Stanley QCL150 entry lever and the Orca OCL250 entrance lockset are Grade 2, and the Orca lockset is medium duty. Where a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock is specified, the peers that hold Grade 1 in an electronic cylindrical lockset are the TownSteel XCE-2000, XCE-9000, FCE-2000 and FCE-4000, the Alarm Lock DL2700 and DL3075, and the Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100.
16) I need credentials read on both sides of the door. Is the CO-200 the right lock?
The Schlage CO-200 carries a proximity and keypad reader and is an office function lock, which controls entry from the outside. For an opening that has to read a credential entering and leaving, the Alarm Lock DL5200 is a double-sided electronic cylindrical lock with 100 user capacity and battery operation, fitting doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. Check the leaf thickness against that range, since the CO-200 is built for a 1-3/4 inch door.
17) Do I have to specify handing on the Schlage CO-200 electronic lock?
Handing is a required choice at order. The CO-200 can be taken field reversible, or specified RH, LH, RHR, or LHR. Field reversible is the safe pick when you are ordering a batch across a building and haven't walked every door, since it's set at install rather than at the factory.
18) How do I program the Schlage CO-200 and pull an audit trail?
Three ways. Simple installs get programmed manually at the keypad. For anything with real user turnover, use PC-based Schlage Express software, then push and pull data at the door with the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device and an SUS-A cable. Audit downloads happen at the lock, not over a network. Select PACS alliance members support the CO-200 as well, which can add lock schedules and audits.
19) Can I mix the Schlage CO-200 with other Schlage offline locks in one system?
Yes. The CO-200 runs in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220, and CT5000, so a property standardizing across cylindrical, mortise, and exit openings can manage them together rather than keeping separate credential lists. That is the practical argument for staying inside the CO/AD family instead of mixing brands door by door.
20) What lever styles and finishes can I get the Schlage CO-200 in to match my other doors?
Six levers and seven finishes. Levers are Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta, and Tubular. Finishes run 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, and 643E aged bronze. For a building already standardized on Schlage mechanical locks, picking the same lever and finish keeps the electronic openings from looking like an afterthought.
21) I need a classroom or privacy lock, not office function. Does the CO Series cover that?
It does, but not on this one. This CO-200 is built as office function. The CO Series also offers classroom/storeroom and privacy functions, and the privacy version can be programmed for occupancy indication, which is what you want on a restroom or a lactation room. Order the function you need up front, it isn't a field change.
22) What is the difference between the Schlage CO-200 and the Alarm Lock T3 DL3075?
Both are Grade 1 electronic cylindrical locks and both keep an audit record. The Alarm Lock T3 DL3075 is a keypad access lock with audit trail from the DL3200 Series. The Schlage CO-200 reads proximity credentials as well as a keypad PIN, holds up to 2,000 users and 2,000 audit events, and can be programmed at the lock with the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device or managed with PC based Schlage Express software. Choose on the credential you already issue and on which management software your team is set up to run.
23) The opening is a restroom or a bedroom that needs privacy. Is there an electronic lock other than the CO-200 for that?
The CO-200 covered here is office function. For a privacy opening, the Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with privacy function and a keypad, fitting doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch, and the CENTRIOS CEB100 is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock in privacy function. If the door does not need electronics at all, the Cal-Royal CAL20 is a Grade 1 extra heavy duty privacy lock for 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch doors.
24) Is the Kwikset SmartCode 912TNL an alternative to a Schlage CO-200 on a commercial door?
The Kwikset 912TNL ZW500 SmartCode is an electronic Tustin lever with Z-Wave technology, keyed one side, for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. Z-Wave means it reports to a home or building automation hub rather than holding its own user list and audit. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1, heavy duty, commercial lock that stores up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events in the lock. On a commercial opening where a specification calls out Grade 1 and an audit record of who opened the door, the 912TNL is not the same product.
25) I do not need electronics on this door, just a keyed office lock. What replaces a CO-200?
The Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock in entry/office function for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch, which is the mechanical counterpart to the office function the Schlage CO-200 performs electronically. The Marks USA 195RAB is a Grade 1 Survivor Series entry clutched lever lockset in entrance/office function supplied less core. Going mechanical drops the 2,000 user credential list and the audit trail the CO-200 keeps, so it suits a door where a key is the whole access policy.
26) Do the Lockey keyless locks work as a substitute for a Schlage CO-200?
They cover a different requirement. The Lockey 1600 and Lockey 2830 are mechanical keyless knob locks, the 2830 with auto-locking passage function, both for doors 1-1/8 inch to 2 inch; being mechanical, there is no user list and no record of entries. The Lockey E985 and E995 are electronic keypad lever locks with remote control, the E985 with key override, both for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 heavy duty commercial cylindrical lock storing up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events, and it reads proximity credentials as well as PINs. Where a specification asks for audit and card credentials, the Lockey models do not answer it.
27) Is the SDC E75 a drop-in for a Schlage CO-200?
The SDC E75 is a battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset with keypad access control covering doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch, so it overlaps the 1-3/4 inch door the Schlage CO-200 is built for and is likewise battery powered. Where they part is the credential and the record: the CO-200 has a proximity and keypad reader, stores up to 2,000 users and 2,000 audit events, and works in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. If the site is standardizing on that Schlage offline system, the E75 will not join it.
28) Which locks look like alternatives to a CO-200 but will not secure the opening?
Several cylindrical locksets in the same size family are not access control at all. The Dorma C501 is a Grade 2 single dummy trim keyless lever lockset and the Orca OCL2170 is a Grade 2 half dummy lever, both trim only with no latch. The Dorma CL701 is a Grade 2 single dummy non-keyed lever, and the Orca OCL210 and Marks USA 195N are passage locksets, which latch but never lock. The Schlage CO-200 is office function, Grade 1, heavy duty, with a proximity and keypad reader controlling entry. Order a dummy or passage lever only for the inactive leaf or the door that never needs to lock.
29) What are the alternatives to a CO-200 if I want to manage the lock from a phone?
The Schlage CO-200 is configured and updated using the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device with an SUS-A cable, and it can also be run from PC-based Schlage Express software. The CENTRIOS CEB100 is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock, so it pairs to a phone wirelessly, though it is a privacy function lock rather than office. The difference to weigh is whether you want a cabled service tool tied to a 2,000 user offline system or a Bluetooth lock managed one door at a time.
30) How does the Accentra nexTouch NTB613 differ from the Schlage CO-200?
The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is a Grade 1 cylindrical keypad lock with pushbutton entry from the nexTouch Series. The Schlage CO-200 is also Grade 1 and heavy duty, but reads proximity credentials as well as a keypad PIN, and it keeps up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events. If the requirement is a code on the door and nothing more, the NTB613 addresses it; if the same card used at the building perimeter has to open the room, the CO-200 is the one that reads it.
