CO-200 OVERVIEW
The CO Series offers ideal solutions for customers seeking the added security and convenience of electronic access control without the cost or complexity of a fully networked system.
The CO-200 steps up significantly in functionality from CO-100 keypad programmable locks. It can be manually or computer programmed with downloads occurring at the lock via the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device. Credential use can include 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards; dual authentication card + PIN readers are available for extra security. More importantly, this lock offers up to 2000 users with audit capability to note the who, where and when of building or room access.
CO-200 can work in the same offline system as AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. They can be manually programmed for basic use or managed with PC-based Schlage Express™ software. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 with added capability that can include lock schedules and audits. Features and capabilities will vary by system; please visit the Software Management tab for additional details.

Schlage Electronics CO-200-CY-40-PRK-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Schlage CO-200 come with a cylinder, and which keyway options do I order?
Cylinder is a separate line on most orders. Four cylinder choices exist: B less cylinder for Schlage, Falcon and competitive OEM 7 pin SFIC; J less cylinder for Schlage 6 pin FSIC; L less cylinder for Schlage and Falcon 6 pin KIL; and P, which is the Schlage standard conventional cylinder. Only P ships as a complete keyed lock. Pick B, J or L and you supply the core to match the keying system already running in the building, which is what lets the CO-200 fall into an existing master key hierarchy.
2) What does the office function do on the Schlage CO-200, and how is it different from a privacy lock?
Office function on the CO-200 means the outside lever can be left unlocked for business hours and secured when you want credentials enforced, with the inside lever always free for egress. That is not the same as a privacy lock, which is a bed and bath style push-to-lock with no credential management. If you actually want privacy, the Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 and the Orca OCL240 are privacy function cylindrical locks, and the CO Series does offer classroom/storeroom, office and privacy variants with an occupancy indication option on the privacy versions.
3) Will the CO-200 latch into the ANSI strike already in my frame?
The standard strike shipped with the CO-200 is an ANSI strike with a 1-3/16 inch lip and no box, and existing ANSI/ASA frame preps of the usual 4-7/8 inch size take it directly. Paired with the 1-1/8 by 2-1/4 inch square corner deadlatch, that means a frame already cut for a Grade 1 cylindrical lockset generally needs no new strike work. Frames with a round corner or T-strike prep will need the frame modified or a matching strike sourced.
4) Is the Schlage CO-200 a networked access control lock or does it stand alone?
Standalone, with no panel, no wiring and no head-end. Programming happens at the door, either by keypad or by download from the Schlage Utility Software mobile app on a compatible Android device with a SUS-A cable, and it can also be managed with PC-based Schlage Express software. It holds up to 2,000 users and an audit trail of up to 2,000 events, supports holidays and time zones for scheduled auto lock and unlock, and can run in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. If you need live network control, this is the wrong family.
5) What credentials does the proximity and keypad version of the CO-200 accept?
This build carries both a proximity reader and a keypad, so a cardholder can badge in with the same credential used at the building perimeter, or enter a 3 to 6 digit PIN. Having both on one lock is also what enables dual authentication, card plus PIN, for a room that needs a second factor such as a pharmacy, IT closet or records room.
6) Is the Schlage CO-200 rated Grade 1 and can it go on a fire door?
Grade 1, heavy duty, and the CO Series carries UL 10C along with UL 294, UL Canada, FCC Part 15 and ADA. As a cylindrical lock it meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1. That is the spec set an institutional or MRO buyer needs for corridor and stairwell openings in a school, hospital or government building.
7) Can the Schlage CO-200 replace a mechanical Schlage lever lock already on the door?
If the existing opening is a 1-3/4 inch door with a 2-3/4 inch backset cylindrical prep and an ANSI strike, the CO-200 drops into that prep, since those are the same latch and strike dimensions it ships with. Order it less cylinder in B, J or L to reuse the core out of the lock you are pulling, and the door stays on the existing key system. Doors prepped at a 2-3/8 inch backset, or thinner than 1-3/4 inches, are not a swap.
8) What is the closest equivalent to a Schlage CO-200 electronic cylindrical lock from another brand?
The TownSteel XCE-2000 is the nearest match among the standalone electronic cylindrical locksets. Like the CO-200, it is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock with keypad credential entry. The XCE-2000 fits doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch thick and is built as a classroom function lock, while the CO-200 is an office function lock for 1-3/4 inch doors and reads both proximity credentials and keypad PINs. If the opening needs card credentials rather than PIN only, the CO-200 reader is the one that covers both.
9) What is a simpler keypad-only alternative to a Schlage CO-200 for a door that does not need card credentials?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is a Grade 1 standalone electronic cylindrical lock with a digital keypad, 100 user codes and IC/SFIC compatibility, fitting doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. It is PIN entry only. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 office function lock that reads proximity credentials as well as keypad PINs and stores up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events, so choose the DL2700 when the opening is code entry with a small user list and the CO-200 when the same badge used at the building perimeter has to work at the room door.
10) What electronic lock should I use for a restroom or exam room that needs a privacy function?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with privacy function and keypad, for doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch. The CENTRIOS CEB100 is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock, also privacy function. The Schlage CO-200 is offered in an office function build; the CO Series also carries classroom/storeroom and privacy functions, and privacy function CO locks can be ordered with the occupancy indication programmable option.
11) Is an SDC Electra 7200 a substitute for a Schlage CO-200?
No, they are wired differently at the opening. The SDC Electra 7200 is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock running on dual voltage 12/24VDC, so it needs power run to the door and a separate access control head end to release it. The Schlage CO-200 is a standalone battery operated lock on four AA cells, with the credential reader and up to 2,000 users held in the lock itself. Choose the 7200 when the opening is already on a wired panel; choose the CO-200 when there is no wiring to the door. The 7200 fits doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch and the CO-200 is built for 1-3/4 inch.
12) What battery-powered keypad cylindrical lock fits a door thicker than 2 inches?
The SDC E75 Series is a battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset with keypad access control, rated for doors 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/8 inch. That is the widest door range among the battery electronic cylindrical locksets here. The Schlage CO-200 is built for 1-3/4 inch doors and runs on four AA batteries, adding a proximity reader alongside the keypad.
13) Which electronic cylindrical lock should I use for a classroom door that has to lock down from inside?
The TownSteel XCE-9000 is an electronic classroom intruder cylindrical lockset with keypad, Grade 1 heavy duty for doors 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch, and the FCE-4000 is the RFID electronic intruder classroom version for 1-3/4 inch doors. Both are built around classroom function. The Schlage CO-200 in the office function build is not an intruder lockdown lock, though the CO Series does offer classroom/storeroom and privacy functions.
14) Do I have to specify handing when ordering a Schlage CO-200 electronic lever lock?
Handing is a required selection. The CO-200 is field reversible, so a Field Reversible option covers most jobs and the lever can be flipped on site. RH, LH, RHR and LHR are also orderable if you want it set from the factory for a specific opening. If you are outfitting a floor with mixed swings, field reversible keeps one part number on the order instead of four.
15) How is the Schlage CO-200 powered, and what happens for battery maintenance?
Four AA batteries run the lock, with no wiring to the door and up to two years of battery life plus a status indicator so maintenance can catch a low pack before it strands anyone. That matters for retrofit work, since there is no power transfer hinge, no raceway and no low voltage run to budget. If you would rather run the opening off building power, the SDC Electra 7200 is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock on 12/24VDC.
16) Which lever styles and finishes can I get on the CO-200 to match the rest of my building?
Six lever styles are offered: Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta and Tubular. Finishes run 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome and 643E aged bronze. Rhodes and Sparta are the levers most commonly already hanging on Schlage mechanical locksets in commercial buildings, so a property manager adding electronic control to a few doors can keep the lever profile and 626 finish consistent with the mechanical locks on the rest of the floor.
17) What are the alternatives to the Schlage CO-200 for a standalone electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail?
Several Grade 1 standalone cylindrical locks cover similar ground. The Alarm Lock Trilogy T3 DL3075 is a keypad lock with an audit trail; the Trilogy T2 DL2700 is keypad only with 100 user codes and IC/SFIC compatibility, and fits 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors, which is a different thickness window than the CO-200. On the RFID side the TownSteel FCE-2000 is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset. The BEST 9KZ EZ Series and the Accentra nexTouch NTB613 are keypad entry cylindrical locks. Where the CO-200 differs is credential breadth, proximity plus keypad on one lock with dual authentication, and 2,000 user capacity.
18) Can the CO-200 be used on an exit device or a mortise door instead of a cylindrical lockset?
This particular CO-200 build is a cylindrical lock and goes in a bored door prep. The CO Series itself extends further, meeting ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000 Grade 1 for mortise and A156.3 for exit device trim, so the same credential platform can be specified across a bored office door, a mortise stairwell door and an exit device on a pair of doors. Order the CO-200 in the configuration matching the door prep you have, not the one you wish you had.
19) What is the difference between a Schlage CO-200 and a BEST 9KZ EZ Series keypad lock?
The BEST 9KZ EZ Series is an electronic keypad cylindrical lock with key override function, so entry is by PIN or by key. The Schlage CO-200 is a proximity and keypad reader lock, meaning it accepts a card as well as a PIN, and it is ordered less cylinder in several prep options including 7 pin SFIC, 6 pin FSIC and 6 pin key-in-lever, or with a Schlage standard conventional cylinder. If the site already carries a badge population, the CO-200 reader matters; if entry is code plus a mechanical key, the 9KZ covers it.
20) I need an electronic lock with an audit trail but on a thinner door than 1-3/4 inch. What should I use?
The Alarm Lock T3 DL3075 is an electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail and keypad access in the DL3200 Series, Grade 1. Within the Alarm Lock cylindrical family the DL2700 covers doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch, so that group reaches thinner stock than the Schlage CO-200, which is built for 1-3/4 inch doors. Note the DL3075 is keypad access; the CO-200 adds a proximity reader alongside the keypad.
21) Is a Kwikset SmartCode 912TNL an alternative to a Schlage CO-200 for an apartment building?
They serve different openings. The Kwikset 912TNL ZW500 SmartCode is an electronic Tustin lever with Z-Wave technology, keyed one side, for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. Z-Wave means it reports to a home automation hub. The Schlage CO-200 is a commercial standalone Grade 1 lock that holds its own credential database of up to 2,000 users with a 2,000 event audit trail, and it accepts the same proximity credential used at the building perimeter. For unit doors on a wider range of door thicknesses the 912TNL covers more stock; for a commercial opening where you need to know who entered and when, the CO-200 is the one that logs it.
22) Can I use a Lockey E985 or E995 keypad lever lock in place of a Schlage CO-200?
Only on thinner doors and without credential management. The Lockey E985 and E995 are electronic keypad lever locks with remote control, both for doors 1 3/8 inch to 1 3/4 inch, and the E985 adds key override. They are code entry devices. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 heavy duty commercial lock that stores up to 2,000 users with a 2,000 event audit trail and is programmed manually or from PC-based Schlage Express software. Where the requirement is a badge, a user list and a record of entries, the Lockey units do not cover it.
23) What mechanical office function lever can I use on the doors that do not need electronic access control?
For openings in the same project that only need a key, the Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lock in entry/office function for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch, and the Marks USA 195RAB is a Grade 1 Survivor Series entry clutched lever supplied less core. The Schlage CO-200 is the office function build with electronic credentials at the door. Specifying the mechanical lever on interior doors and the CO-200 where access needs to be logged is a common split.
24) Will an Orca OCL250 or Stanley QCL150 match a Schlage CO-200 on a commercial opening?
Not on duty rating. The Orca OCL250 is a Grade 2 medium duty entrance cylindrical lockset, and the Stanley QCL150 entry lever with rose, less cylinder, is Grade 2. The Schlage CO-200 is Grade 1 heavy duty. On a high traffic commercial opening those two sit a grade below, so they are the wrong pick where the spec calls for Grade 1, even before the electronic credential requirement is considered.
25) What is a mechanical keyless option instead of an electronic lock for a low-traffic storage door?
The Lockey 1600 is a heavy duty mechanical keyless knob lock with adjustable backset for doors 1-1/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Lockey 2830 is a mechanical pushbutton keyless knob lock with auto-locking passage function over the same 1-1/8 inch to 2 inch range. Neither uses batteries. The Schlage CO-200 runs on four AA cells with up to 2 years battery life and a status indicator, and it is the choice when codes have to be changed per user and entries recorded rather than a single shared combination.
26) Is the Accentra nexTouch NTB613 the same thing as a Schlage CO-200?
They overlap but are not equivalents. The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is a Grade 1 cylindrical keypad lock with pushbutton entry, so credentials are PINs at the keypad. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 standalone lock with a proximity and keypad reader, supporting 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards, with dual authentication card plus PIN readers available. Where the security plan calls for two factors at the door, the CO-200 is the one that supports it.
27) Which lock works on both sides of the door for a two-sided credential requirement?
The Alarm Lock DL5200 is a double-sided electronic cylindrical lock with 100 user capacity and battery operation, for doors 1-5/8 inch to 1-7/8 inch, so a credential is presented entering and exiting. The Schlage CO-200 is a single reader office function lock for 1-3/4 inch doors holding up to 2,000 users. For controlled egress rooms the DL5200 arrangement is the one to spec; for a larger user population on a single reader opening the CO-200 carries the count.
28) Is there an antimicrobial finish option for a healthcare facility on the Schlage CO-200?
626AM satin chrome antimicrobial is listed among the CO Series finishes, alongside the standard 626 satin chrome. On a lock that gets touched at the keypad by every user, that is the finish healthcare and long term care facilities typically specify.
