CO-200 OVERVIEW
The CO Series offers ideal solutions for customers seeking the added security and convenience of electronic access control without the cost or complexity of a fully networked system.
The CO-200 steps up significantly in functionality from CO-100 keypad programmable locks. It can be manually or computer programmed with downloads occurring at the lock via the SUS mobile app on a compatible Android device. Credential use can include 3-6 digit PIN, proximity and magnetic stripe cards; dual authentication card + PIN readers are available for extra security. More importantly, this lock offers up to 2000 users with audit capability to note the who, where and when of building or room access.
CO-200 can work in the same offline system as AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000. They can be manually programmed for basic use or managed with PC-based Schlage Express™ software. Select PACS alliance members also offer access control solutions for the CO-200 with added capability that can include lock schedules and audits. Features and capabilities will vary by system; please visit the Software Management tab for additional details.

Schlage Electronics CO-200-CY-40-PR-RHO-626-P – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Schlage CO-200 electronic cylindrical lock fit a 1-3/8 inch door?
No. The CO-200 cylindrical lock is built for 1-3/4 inch doors only, which is the standard commercial thickness. If you're working an older interior opening at 1-3/8 inches, look at something with a range, like the Cal-Royal CAL20 privacy lockset at 1-3/8 to 2 inches or the Dorma C150, which covers 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inches. Neither of those is electronic, though, so if you need credentials on a thinner door the Kwikset 912TNL SmartCode lever covers 1-3/8 to 2 inches and the Lockey E985 keypad lever covers 1-3/8 to 1-3/4.
2) Does the Schlage CO-200 come with a key cylinder, or do I have to supply one?
Most CO-200 configurations are less cylinder, so the locksmith supplies the core. Four choices: B takes a 7-pin SFIC in Schlage, Falcon or competitive OEM format; J takes a Schlage 6-pin FSIC; L takes a Schlage or Falcon 6-pin key-in-lever cylinder; and P comes with the Schlage standard conventional cylinder already. If you're keying into an existing SFIC system, order B and pin your own cores. Only P arrives ready to key without sourcing a separate cylinder.
3) What does the office function do on a CO-200 lock, and is it right for a private office?
Office function on the CO-200 means the lever can be left in a passage state so people walk in freely during business hours, then secured back to credential-only. Paired with the CO-200's holiday and time-zone scheduling, it will auto unlock in the morning and auto lock at night without anyone touching it. That's the right pick for a private office or a suite door. For a classroom or a supply room that must stay latched at all times, you want the classroom/storeroom function instead.
4) Do I need to run wire to the door for a Schlage CO-200?
No wiring. The CO-200 is a standalone battery lock running on four AA cells, with a status indicator and up to two years of battery life. Nothing goes back to a panel, so there's no door cord, no power supply and no head-end. That's the tradeoff: you get credentials and audit at the opening, but you don't get real-time monitoring or remote unlock the way you would off a wired system. If you need a wired opening on that door, the SDC Electra 7200 Series is a solenoid controlled cylindrical lock on dual voltage 12/24VDC.
5) Can the CO-200 use the same access cards we already use on our building entrance?
That's the point of it. The CO-200 reads proximity credentials, and Schlage states it works with the same credential used on the building perimeter, so a badge that opens the front door can open interior offices without issuing a second card. It also accepts 3 to 6 digit PINs and magnetic stripe cards depending on reader configuration, and dual authentication (card plus PIN) is available where you want two factors on a sensitive room.
6) Is the Schlage CO-200 Grade 1, and can it go on a fire rated door?
Grade 1, heavy duty, and rated for commercial use. In cylindrical form it meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1, and the CO Series carries UL 10C, UL 294, UL Canada, FCC Part 15, ADA and ANSI/BHMA A156.25 full outdoor on the 70 function. For a spec writer or an institutional buyer standardizing a facility, that set covers a fire rated opening and an accessible one.
7) What is the closest equivalent to a Schlage CO-200 cylindrical lock from another manufacturer?
The TownSteel FCE-2000 Series is the nearest match in form and credential type: it is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset that reads RFID credentials and fits a 1-3/4 inch door, the same door thickness the CO-200 is built for. The CO-200 is a Grade 1 cylindrical lock with a proximity reader and battery power on a 1-3/4 inch door, so a card-credentialed opening specified around one can generally be met by the other in the same bored prep.
8) What electronic cylindrical lock should I use if the opening needs a keypad instead of a card reader?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is a Grade 1 standalone electronic cylindrical lock with a digital keypad, 100 user codes, and IC/SFIC cylinder compatibility. The TownSteel XCE-2000 Series is another Grade 1 heavy duty electronic cylindrical lockset with a keypad, rated for 1-3/4 to 2 inch doors. The CO-200 in proximity-reader form credentials the opening with a card rather than a keyed-in code.
9) Which electronic cylindrical locks fit doors thinner than 1-3/4 inches?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 and the Trilogy 4100 both cover 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors, and the Alarm Lock DL5200 double-sided electronic lock covers the same 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch range. The Lockey E985 and E995 electronic keypad lever locks cover 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors. The Schlage CO-200 is built for a 1-3/4 inch door.
10) Which electronic cylindrical lock should I specify for a classroom intruder opening?
The TownSteel XCE-9000 Series is a Grade 1 electronic classroom intruder cylindrical lockset with a keypad, rated for 1-3/4 to 2 inch doors, and the TownSteel FCE-4000 Series is an RFID electronic intruder classroom cylindrical lockset, Grade 1, for a 1-3/4 inch door. The Schlage CO-200 in the configuration described here carries the office function.
11) Which electronic cylindrical locks accept small format interchangeable cores for key override?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 is IC/SFIC compatible, and the BEST 9KZ EZ Series is an electronic keypad cylindrical lock with a key override function. The Schlage CO-200 ships less cylinder in several forms, including a B prep for Schlage, Falcon and competitive OEM 7 pin SFIC cores, a J prep for Schlage 6 pin FSIC, and an L prep for Schlage and Falcon 6 pin key-in-lever, with a P option for the Schlage standard conventional cylinder.
12) What electronic lock covers a privacy or bed and bath opening?
The Alarm Lock Trilogy 4100 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with a privacy function and keypad for 1-5/8 to 1-7/8 inch doors, and the CENTRIOS CEB100 Series is a Grade 1 smart Bluetooth cylindrical lock in a privacy function. The CO Series itself offers classroom/storeroom, office, and privacy functions, with an occupancy indication option on the privacy locks.
13) Which battery-powered electronic cylindrical lock works on a thicker door up to 2-1/8 inches?
The SDC E75 Series is a battery-powered electronic cylindrical lockset with keypad access control rated for 1-3/4 to 2-1/8 inch doors. The Schlage CO-200 is specified for a 1-3/4 inch door and runs on four AA batteries.
14) Do I need to specify handing when ordering a CO-200 electronic lock?
Handing is a required selection, but the CO-200 is field reversible, so you can also order it that way and set the hand at install. The choices are field reversible, RH, LH, RHR and LHR. If you're stocking spares across a building with mixed swings, field reversible is the one to hold.
15) How many users and how much audit history does a Schlage CO-200 hold?
Up to 2,000 users and an audit trail of up to 2,000 events on each lock, which covers a floor of offices or a mid-size tenant suite without running out of room. Among the standalone locks we carry that's on the high end: the Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 DL2700 holds 100 user codes and the DL5200 also carries a 100 user capacity. If you're managing a few doors with a handful of staff, those are simpler. If you need to know who opened a door and when across hundreds of badge holders, the CO-200 is the one built for it.
16) How do I program a CO-200 lock and pull the audit trail off it?
Two ways. Manual programming at the keypad handles basic setup with no computer at all. For anything beyond that, you configure and update at the door with the Schlage Utility Software (SUS) mobile app on a compatible Android device plus the SUS-A cable, and manage the door database in PC-based Schlage Express software. Audits download at the lock the same way. Select PACS alliance members support the CO-200 as well, adding lock schedules and audits, with capability varying by system.
17) Can I add a CO-200 to doors that already have Schlage AD-200 or CO-220 locks?
Yes. The CO-200 runs in the same offline system as the AD-200, CO-220 and CT5000, so you can mix them across a building and manage the whole set from Schlage Express rather than running a second program for the new doors. Useful when you're expanding an existing offline install one opening at a time.
18) What is the difference between the Schlage CO-100 and the CO-200?
The CO-100 is keypad programmable and that's the ceiling. The CO-200 adds computer programming, card credentials (proximity and magnetic stripe alongside 3-6 digit PIN), 2,000 users, a 2,000 event audit trail, and holiday and time zone scheduling. If you only need a handful of PIN codes on a back door, the extra capability is wasted. If anyone will ever ask you who went into a room and when, or you want one badge to work at the perimeter and inside, that's the CO-200.
19) What else should I look at instead of the Schlage CO-200 for a standalone credential lock?
A few directions, depending on the opening. The TownSteel FCE-2000 is a Grade 1 standalone motorized cylindrical lockset with RFID, also on a 1-3/4 inch door, and the XCE-2000 is a Grade 1 keypad version covering 1-3/4 to 2 inches. For classroom intruder function specifically, the TownSteel FCE-4000 and XCE-9000 are built for it. If you want keypad only with no cards, the Alarm Lock Trilogy T3 DL3075 is Grade 1 with audit trail, and the BEST 9KZ EZ Series adds a key override. Where the CO-200 separates is running in a common offline system with the AD-200 and CO-220 under Schlage Express.
20) What is the simplest way to get keyless access on a door without going electronic?
The Lockey 1600 heavy duty mechanical keyless knob lock has an adjustable backset and covers 1-1/8 to 2 inch doors, and the Lockey 2830 mechanical pushbutton keyless knob lock adds an auto-locking passage function over the same 1-1/8 to 2 inch range. Neither needs batteries. The Schlage CO-200 is battery operated on four AA cells and is a credentialed electronic lock rather than a mechanical pushbutton unit.
21) What mechanical lockset matches a Schlage CO-200 opening if the door does not need electronic access control?
For an office or entrance opening, the Dorma C150 is a Grade 1 heavy-duty cylindrical lock in the entry/office function for 1-3/8 to 2-1/4 inch doors, and the Marks USA 195RAB is a Grade 1 Survivor Series entry clutched lever lockset supplied less core. Both hold the Grade 1 rating the CO-200 carries, without the credential reader or the four AA batteries.
22) What is the difference between the Schlage CO-200 and a Stanley QCL200 or QCL150 lever?
They are not interchangeable. The Stanley QCL200 is a mechanical cylindrical lock keyed different with an SC keyway and a 118F ANSI 1-1/8 by 2-3/4 inch strike, and the Stanley QCL150 is a Grade 2 entry lever with a Sierra bent lever, less cylinder, 2-3/4 inch backset and a 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 inch ASA strike. Both are key-operated only. The Schlage CO-200 is a Grade 1 electronic lock with a proximity reader that stores users and an audit trail at the door.
23) Can I use an Orca OCL250 or a Marks USA 175RF in place of a Schlage CO-200 on a commercial opening?
They sit at a different rating. The Orca OCL250 is a Grade 2 medium duty entrance cylindrical lockset, and the Marks USA 175RF is a Grade 2 storeroom clutched lever with a small format IC prep, less core, 2-3/4 inch backset and an ANSI strike. The Schlage CO-200 is Grade 1 heavy duty, which is the rating an ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 spec calls for.
24) What should I order if the door only needs a passage or dummy lever rather than a credentialed lock?
For passage, the Marks USA 195N is a Grade 1 Survivor Series ADA compliant passage lever and the Cal-Royal CAL30 is a Grade 1 extra heavy duty passage lock for 1-3/8 to 2 inch doors. For a dummy trim, the Dorma C501 is a Grade 2 single dummy keyless lever for 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors and the Orca OCL2170 is a Grade 2 half dummy lever. The Schlage CO-200 is a credentialed electronic lock, so it is more hardware than a non-latching opening needs.
25) Which keypad lock is the closest alternative if I want pushbutton entry in a Grade 1 cylindrical body?
The Accentra nexTouch NTB613 is a Grade 1 cylindrical keypad lock with pushbutton entry, and the Alarm Lock T3 DL3075 is a Grade 1 electronic cylindrical lock with audit trail and keypad access. Audit capability is also where the CO-200 sits, storing up to 2,000 users with an audit trail of up to 2,000 events.
26) Is a Cal-Royal CAL20 privacy lock an alternative to a Schlage CO-200 privacy lock?
Only where no credential is wanted. The Cal-Royal CAL20 is a Grade 1 extra heavy duty privacy lock in the Calypso Series for 1-3/8 to 2 inch doors, thumbturn operated with no electronics. The CO Series privacy locks add an occupancy indication programmable option and are battery operated on four AA cells.
27) What lever styles and finishes does the Schlage CO-200 come in, and will it match our other doors?
Six lever designs (Athens, Latitude, Longitude, Rhodes, Sparta and Tubular) across seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome and 643E aged bronze. For a property manager matching an existing floor, Rhodes and Sparta in 626 are the common commercial pairing, and picking the same lever design as your mechanical Schlage locksets means the electronic doors don't read as an afterthought.
28) Is there an antimicrobial finish option for a Schlage CO-200 in a healthcare setting?
Schlage lists 626AM satin chrome antimicrobial among the CO-200 finishes, which is the one hospitals and clinics ask for on high-touch levers. The standard 626 satin chrome is the same color without the antimicrobial coating.
