1) What does the storeroom function do on a Schlage AD-200 mortise lock?
Storeroom (function 70) keeps the outside lever locked at all times. Entry is by valid credential or by key, and the inside lever always retracts the latch for free egress. That is the function to use on mechanical rooms, IT closets, supply rooms, and any door that must never be left on latch. Schlage's standard on the AD-200 is a 6-pin Everest 29 S123 keyway conventional cylinder with two patented keys, but the whole point of buying it less cylinder is to key it into a master key system you already run. Less reader means there is no credential reader module on the lock, so it operates on keypad and key rather than a card, prox, or smart credential. If you need cards, that reader is a factory-ordered module, not a field add.
3) Can I key the Schlage AD-200 into the master key system already running in my building?
Yes. The AD-200 is compatible with major brands of master key systems, and this configuration comes less cylinder so you install a mortise cylinder cut to your existing system. If you have no system to match, Schlage's standard is a 6-pin Everest 29 S123 conventional cylinder supplied with two patented keys. This is a key-in-lever style lock, so a locksmith can key it and the credential side independently.
4) Is the Schlage AD-200 mortise lock fire rated and ADA compliant?
The AD-200 carries UL 10C, which is the positive pressure fire door test, along with UL 294 for access control, ANSI/BHMA A156.25, ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, ADA, FCC Part 15 and RoHS. 5) Do I have to order the Schlage AD-200 handed, and can I flip it on site?
It ships handed to order but the handing is field reversible, so a lock that arrives the wrong way can be corrected on the door rather than returned. Worth ordering the correct hand anyway to save the installer a step.
6) Should I use a standalone AD-200 or a networked electronic lock for my building?
The AD-200 is the standalone choice: it holds up to 5000 users and 5000 audit events at the lock, and you push user and access-right changes with the keypad or a handheld device rather than over a network. That suits a facility with no access control system in place, or a handful of openings that do not justify wiring. For a property manager with a lot of doors, the 8AA option stretches the service interval; for openings near an existing power run, 12 or 24 VDC takes the battery out of the maintenance schedule entirely.
8) Can a Schlage AD-200 go on an exterior door in a cold climate?
The exterior side is rated from -31 to 151 degrees F (-35 to 66 C), and humidity 0 to 100 percent non-condensing. The interior side, where the battery sits, is rated 32 to 120 degrees F (0 to 49 C), so the constraint on a perimeter door is keeping the inside face of the lock above freezing. On a normally conditioned building that is not an issue; on an unheated warehouse or a vestibule it is worth checking.
9) Can I get an audit trail of who opened a door with a Schlage AD-200 standalone lock?
Yes, up to 5000 audit events are stored at the lock and pulled with the handheld device (HHD), which is also how you add users and change access rights.
