Schlage Electronics MTB11 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Schlage MTB11 mullion mount reader designed for?
The MTB11 is a compact mullion-mount reader for narrow frame applications. It reads multiple credential types including mobile credentials, proximity cards, and smart cards. Designed for commercial access control installations where space is limited.
2) Which access control systems is the MTB11 compatible with?
The MTB11 integrates with Schlage control panels and third-party systems supporting Wiegand output. Verify compatibility with your specific control panel before installation. Check system documentation for supported credential formats.
3) What mobile credential technologies does this reader support?
The MTB11 supports NFC and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mobile credentials. Users can present smartphones or smart devices for access. Mobile credentials require compatible access control software and enrollment process.
4) What are the mounting requirements for the MTB11?
Mount the MTB11 on door mullions or narrow frame sections. Requires minimum clearance for proper RF performance. Verify mounting surface can support reader weight. Follow manufacturer template for precise positioning and screw locations.
5) What power requirements does this reader have?
The MTB11 typically operates on 12-24VDC power supply. Check specification sheet for exact voltage and current draw requirements. Size power supply appropriately for total system load including other connected devices.
6) Is this reader suitable for outdoor installations?
The MTB11 includes weather-resistant housing suitable for covered outdoor applications. Not recommended for direct weather exposure without additional protection. Verify IP rating meets your environmental requirements.
7) What wiring connections are required?
Standard connections include power, ground, and Wiegand data lines to control panel. Some models include auxiliary outputs for LED or buzzer control. Use appropriate wire gauge for cable run length. Follow local electrical codes.
8) How do you program credentials for the MTB11?
Program credentials through your access control software, not the reader itself. Mobile credentials require enrollment process through mobile app or web interface. Proximity cards are typically programmed at the control panel level.
9) What maintenance does this reader require?
Clean reader face periodically with mild cleaner to maintain optimal performance. Check mounting hardware for tightness. Verify LED indicators function properly. No internal maintenance required on sealed units.
10) Are there similar Schlage reader models available?
Schlage offers various Schlage readers including wall-mount and standard mullion versions. Consider MTB series alternatives for different mounting requirements. Verify feature compatibility before substituting models.
11) What is the typical read range for this device?
Read range varies by credential type and environmental factors. Mobile credentials typically require closer proximity than standard prox cards. Test actual performance during installation to verify acceptable read range for your application.
