Schlage ND SERIES OVERVIEW

The Schlage ND Series offers a full breadth of commercial lock options with a suited combination of mechanical, electrified and electronic options. This overview covers common characteristics for the mechanical and electrified lock information.

Beyond grade 1 performance is the hallmark of the mechanical and electrified locks. ND Series locks are tested to withstand 3,100 in-lb. of abusive lever torque - more than 2 1/2 times the Grade 1 standard requirement. Offset lever pull testing up to 1,600 lbs. assures you of the lock's superb resistance against pry bar attacks. More than strong, ND Series is built to last and shows nearly zero droop or wobble after 16 million cycles.

All ND Series locks including electronic and ligature-resistant trim use the common cylindrical ANSI 161 door preparation making them easily interchangeable. They are ideal for all new construction and retrofit applications.

ND Series Mechanical Lock

The ND mechanical lock, along with being Schlage’s best selling mechanical lock, is the foundation for both the wired electrified and NDE wireless electronic lock. Not only did Schlage invent the cylindrical lock, but they continue to make it better with capabilities such as:

  • Unparalleled strength - the lock prevents access even when subjected to torque loads up to 3,100 in-lbs (2.6x BHMA1), withstands pry bar attacks of 1,600 lbs (8x BHMA requirements1), and withstands 100 hammer blows (20x BHMA requirements1, 2)
  • Exceptional durability - cycle tested to over 16M cycles (16x BHMA requirements1) with near zero droop or wobble - without the use of set screws or O-rings
  • Improved feel - improved strength and durability are more than numbers, you can actually feel it in the lock
  • Improved installation - installation is even easier than before (and withoutany set screws or O-rings)

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Security

  • Significantly exceeds ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 requirements

  • No access with minimum 1,600 lbs. offset lever pull for protection against pry bar attacks, 8 times over the BHMA requirement*
  • 5 points of engagement provide nearly zero droop and wobble after 16 million cycles, 16 times over the BHMA requirement*, without the use of set screws or o-rings
  • High security locking when used with Primus XP UL 437 listed cylinders

Schlage ND80PDEU RHO 626 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What is the primary function of the Schlage ND80EU storeroom lock?
The ND80EU is a storeroom function lock where the outside lever is always locked and requires a key for entry. The inside lever is always free for egress. When electrically unlocked, both levers operate freely until power is removed.
    2) What does fail-secure operation mean for this lock?
Fail-secure means the lock remains locked when power is lost. This provides maximum security during power outages but requires battery backup systems for emergency egress in critical applications.
    3) What door thicknesses and weights does the ND80EU accommodate?
Schlage ND series locks typically fit standard door thicknesses from 1-3/8" to 1-3/4". Check the manufacturer's template for specific door preparation requirements and weight limitations for your installation.
    4) Is this lock handed and how do I determine the correct handing?
The ND80EU can be field-reversed for left or right hand applications. Determine handing by standing on the side where the door opens toward you - if hinges are on the right, it's right hand.
    5) What finish options are available for the ND80EU?
Schlage ND series locks come in various finishes including satin chrome, bright brass, and oil-rubbed bronze. Check specific finish availability when ordering as options may vary by function.
    6) What voltage and current does this electric lock require?
Verify the specific voltage requirements with the product specifications. Most Schlage electric locks operate on 12VDC or 24VDC. Check current draw specifications for proper power supply sizing.
    7) Can this lock be integrated with access control systems?
Yes, the ND80EU is designed for access control integration. The electric unlock feature allows remote operation via card readers, keypads, or building management systems through proper wiring.
    8) What tools are needed for installation?
Standard installation requires a drill, hole saws for door preparation, screwdrivers, and wire strippers for electrical connections. Use the manufacturer's template for precise hole placement.
    9) How do I maintain the electric components of this lock?
Keep electrical connections clean and dry. Test the electric unlock function regularly. Lubricate mechanical components with manufacturer-approved lubricants. Check wire connections periodically for looseness or corrosion.
    10) What other Schlage ND series functions are available?
The Schlage ND series offers multiple functions including entrance, privacy, passage, and classroom functions. Each serves different security and access requirements.
    11) Is the ND80EU suitable for exterior doors?
While Grade 1 rated for durability, verify weather resistance specifications for exterior use. Consider additional weatherproofing for electrical connections in outdoor applications.

      Reliable Lock for Our Office

Posted by Daniel on Jun 6th 2024

I got the Schlage ND80EU Storeroom Lock for our office. It's fail-secure and works great when we need the door to stay locked. Installation was straightforward. Only issue is it's a bit expensive, but it’s worth the extra cost for the security.
