Metallics HKBH7I – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics HKBH7I hex key set inch sizes or metric?
Inch sizes. The HKBH7I is a 7 piece ball hex L key set in inch (fractional) sizes, so it will not fit metric socket screws. If your fasteners are metric, you need a separate metric key set.
2) What does the ball end on the Metallics HKBH7I hex keys do for me?
The ball end lets you drive a socket screw at an angle instead of straight on, which is what you want reaching into a panel or enclosure where the key cannot line up square with the fastener head. The short leg of each L key is the ball end; the long leg gives you the reach and the straight hex end gives you full torque when you need to break a screw loose.
3) How many keys come in the Metallics HKBH7I set, and is it sold as one set?
Seven keys in the set, and it ships as 1 piece, meaning one complete set per order rather than seven loose keys.
4) Are these hex keys the right tool for set screws on electrical lugs and connectors?
Yes, that is the intended use. The HKBH7I is an inch ball hex L key set carried as electrical fastener tooling, and inch hex sockets are what you find on mechanical lug set screws, split bolts and connector bodies on North American gear. Confirm the socket size on your lugs falls in an inch range before you rely on it as your only set.
