Metallics HKBH9M – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is included in the Metallics HKBH9M hex key set?
The HKBH9M is a 9 piece ball-hex L key set in metric sizes, sold as one set per pack. Nine L shaped keys, ball end on the long leg, metric only, so it won't cover SAE/inch socket screws.
2) Are these metric or inch hex keys?
Metric. The HKBH9M set is metric sizing only. If the set screws or socket cap screws on your job are inch sized (1/16, 5/64, 3/32 and up), a metric L key set will either not seat or will round the socket, so order an SAE set for that work.
3) What is the advantage of a ball end hex key for electrical work in a panel?
The ball end on these L keys lets you drive a socket screw at an angle instead of straight on, which is what you want reaching lug set screws inside a crowded panel or a cramped junction box where you cannot get square to the fastener. Use the short straight end when you need full torque, since the ball end carries less of it.
4) Will one HKBH9M order get me a full set or a single key?
One order is one complete set of nine keys, not a loose individual key. Electricians stocking multiple trucks or gang boxes should order one per kit.
