Metallics JSS814 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the JSS814 set screw have a cup point or a flat point?
Cup point. The JSS814 is a socket cup point set screw, so the hollow ring edge bites into the shaft or part it clamps against. That grips hard but marks the surface, so if you need to reposition a collar repeatedly on a finished shaft, a flat point is the better choice.
2) What tool drives the Metallics JSS814 screw?
It is a socket drive, so it takes a hex key (Allen wrench) rather than a screwdriver. There is no external head, the screw seats flush or below the surface of the collar or hub it is threaded into.
3) How many Metallics JSS814 set screws come in a jar?
100 pieces per jar. That is the packaged quantity for the JSS814, which suits a service van or MRO drawer where small 8-32 set screws get pulled a few at a time.
4) Are the JSS814 set screws plain steel or plated?
Steel with a black finish, not a bright zinc or stainless screw. Black oxide style finishes give minimal corrosion protection on their own, so for wet or outdoor locations a stainless set screw is the better call.
