Metallics TTSK8 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What kind of screw is the Metallics TTSK8 kit?
TTSK8 is a kit of #8 pan head sheet metal screws in zinc-plated steel, made in the USA. They take a tri-drive recess, so a single bit engages the head without you matching drivers across the job.
2) Can I drive Metallics TTSK8 screws with a Phillips bit?
They are tri-drive heads, which take a tri-drive bit. Keep the matching bit on the driver; forcing a mismatched tip is how you cam out and chew the recess on sheet metal work.
3) Are the zinc-plated TTSK8 screws OK for outdoor or wet locations?
Zinc plating on the TTSK8 screws is a general indoor, dry-location finish for steel. For wet, damp, or exterior enclosures, specify a stainless or hot-dip galvanized sheet metal screw instead.
4) What is the TTSK8 used for on an electrical job?
It is an electrical-supply fastener kit: #8 sheet metal screws for fastening into boxes, enclosures, straps, and light-gauge metal. Sheet metal thread, so it cuts its own hold in thin steel rather than needing a nut behind it.
