Metallics THS4B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the Metallics THS4B black phosphate screw outdoors or in a damp location?
No. Black phosphate is an interior, mild corrosion coating only, and it will rust in exterior or wet conditions. Keep the THS4B to dry interior work and use a coated or stainless deck or exterior screw where moisture, pressure treated lumber or outdoor exposure is involved.
2) Is the THS4B fully threaded or does it have a partial shank?
Full thread runs the whole 3 inch length. That pulls consistently along the full depth of engagement, which is what you want when fastening thin material tight to framing, but it will not draw two pieces of thicker stock together the way a partial thread shank does. For a clamping pull on a 2x, a partial thread screw is the better pick.
3) How many screws come in a box of Metallics THS4B, and is it sold loose?
It comes as a bulk 4,000 piece pack, not a small contractor box or a loose count. That quantity suits a crew running trim or furring screws every day or an MRO shelf that wants one standardized fastener across jobs, rather than a single room repair.
