Metallics 400KOSG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size knockout does the Metallics 400KOSG knockout seal fit?
The 400KOSG is a 4 inch knockout seal. It plugs an unused 4 inch knockout in a panel, box, or enclosure wall.
2) Does the Metallics 400KOSG come with a gasket, or do I need to buy one separately?
The gasket is included. The 400KOSG ships as a seal and gasket set, so you get the sealing washer that goes between the plug and the enclosure wall in the same part.
3) I have a 4 inch hole left in a panel after removing a conduit run. Is a knockout seal the right fix?
Yes, that is exactly what the 400KOSG is for. A knockout seal closes an unused or abandoned opening in an enclosure so the box stays closed up. It is not a connector and will not terminate conduit or cable; if you are bringing a raceway back into that opening you need a 4 inch connector or hub instead.
4) What material and finish is the 400KOSG knockout seal?
Steel with a zinc finish. That is the standard combination for dry indoor panel and enclosure work.
5) How many knockout seals come in a pack of Metallics 400KOSG?
Five per pack. If you are closing out several oversized knockouts across a panel job, one pack covers five openings.
6) Will a 4 inch knockout seal work in a 3 inch or 3-1/2 inch opening?
No. The 400KOSG is sized for a 4 inch knockout only. A smaller opening needs the seal matched to that trade size, and a larger or irregular hole needs a different closure method entirely.
