1) Can the Securitron DK-16 keypad control two doors, or do I need a second unit?

One DK-16 controller runs a one- or two-door application, but only where both doors share the same access rules. There's a single 5A DPDT relay output, so both doors unlock on the same code set. If the two openings need different codes or different users, you need separate keypad systems.

2) Will the DK-16 keypad work outdoors on an exterior gate or entry door?

As shipped it's an indoor device. The keypad is rated +32 to +110F and the CPU +32 to +158F, and Securitron specifies indoor use. For an exterior location you add the WBB weather back box and the WCC clear weather cover, which allow mounting outdoors in spots not directly exposed to rain or snow. Fully exposed, driving-rain locations are still out.

3) What is the difference between the Securitron DK-16 and the DK-16P?

The DK-16 is the complete system: keypad plus the separate controller in its plastic enclosure. The DK-16P is the keypad alone. Order the DK-16P only when you already have a working DK controller and are replacing a damaged or vandalized keypad, or adding a second entry point to an existing controller. Both are indoor, single gang.

4) What voltage and current draw should I size my access control power supply for with a DK-16?

The DK-16 runs on 12 or 24 VAC/VDC. At 12V it pulls 7 mA at rest and 160 mA active; at 24V, 20 mA at rest and 190 mA active. Budget that on top of your lock's draw, since the same supply is usually feeding a mag lock or strike through the relay.

5) Can the DK-16 switch a magnetic lock and shunt the door alarm at the same time?

Yes. The output is a 5A DPDT relay, so one pole can drop power to a mag lock or fire a strike while the second pole handles alarm shunt or an interface to another system. There's also a REX input for a motion sensor or push button so free egress doesn't trip the alarm.
