1) Will the Securitron SEPT power transfer work on a door with center pivots?
No. The SEPT works on swing doors hung on butt hinges, continuous hinges, or pivots with less than 3/4 inch offset. It will not function on center pivot doors or pivot hinges outside that offset. If your opening is center-hung, you need a different transfer method entirely, because the door edge does not move in the arc the SEPT's flex conduit is built for.
2) How many wires can I run through a Securitron SEPT?
Four configurations are offered: 9 wire, 10 wire, 12 wire, and an ElectroLynx version with pre-terminated ElectroLynx connectors. Count every device on the door first, an electrified lock, a request-to-exit switch, a door position switch, and a card reader add up fast, then pick the conductor count with a spare pair left over. Going back to add a wire later means pulling the transfer out of the door.
3) Can I run CAT5E or data through a Securitron SEPT power transfer?
Yes, with the right model. The SEPT-C5E is CAT5E compatible and takes 9 to 22 AWG stranded conductor with Molex connectors. The EL-SEPT is the ElectroLynx version and accepts 12 to 22 AWG wire with ElectroLynx connectors. Both run inside a flexible steel shield with a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) inside diameter, so size your bundle against that ID before you order.
4) Is the Securitron SEPT approved for a fire rated door opening?
