Metallics JCST100 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are Metallics JCST100 cable staples insulated?
No. The JCST100 is a non-insulated steel staple, meaning bare metal against the cable jacket with no plastic or fiber saddle. Drive it so the crown seats against the framing without crushing the sheathing. Where a job spec calls for an insulated saddle staple, this is not the part.
2) How many staples come in a jar of Metallics JCST100?
Each jar holds 100 staples, and 100 count is the minimum order quantity. The jar packaging keeps them from spilling in a tool bag or on a cart, which is why electricians buying for rough-in trim work tend to order several at a time.
3) Do Metallics JCST100 staples qualify for Buy American or ARRA-funded work?
The JCST100 is flagged both ARRA compliant and Buy American compliant in the manufacturer's data, which is what institutional and government procurement typically needs on the submittal. Country of origin is listed as multiple.
4) Can I get a different size or a larger quantity of these Metallics NM cable staples?
Yes. Metallics offers other staple sizes and pack quantities beyond the 1-1/4 x 9/16 inch, 100 count jar by request, which is useful when a job mixes cable sizes or when you are stocking a truck rather than finishing one unit.
5) How much does a jar of 100 Metallics JCST100 staples weigh and how big is the jar?
A full jar runs 0.62 lbs, with jar dimensions of 3 x 3 x 2.7 inches. Small enough to ride in a pouch, and light enough that carrying a few jars for a multi-unit rough-in is no burden.
