    1) Will the STI NoTouch stainless steel exit button work with my 12V access control panel?
    It runs on 12 to 24 VDC, so a standard 12VDC access panel or power supply will drive it. Current draw is 45mA max, or 35mA on the Slim model, which is light enough to share an existing panel's auxiliary output. The output is a Form C dry contact rated 0.5A at 120VAC or 1A at 24VDC, so you get both normally open and normally closed to wire into a maglock, strike, or REX input.
    2) Which mount size do I order for a mullion on an aluminum storefront door?
    Order the Slim/Mullion version. The series comes in four housings: Slim/Mullion, US Single gang, US Double gang, and European Single gang. Slim/Mullion is the narrow one that fits a storefront mullion or a tight door frame; US Single is the normal 1-gang box in a wall, US Double the 2-gang, and EU Single for European gang boxes. All four are offered with EXIT, OPEN, or the running man symbol label.
    3) Can the STI NoTouch button be surface mounted where there is no box in the wall?
    Yes, with the matching surface mount back box. Three are offered: KIT-BB0SS for the Slim/Mullion button, KIT-BB1SS for the US Single gang, and KIT-BB3SS for the European Single gang. On block walls, glass frames, or any retrofit with no existing back box, you order the back box alongside the button since it is a separate part.
    4) I am replacing an old push-to-exit button and the wall is marked up around it. Will the NoTouch cover it?
    The stainless faceplate is deliberately oversized to hide old install marks and screw holes from the previous device, so most swap-outs need no patching or painting. Faceplate is 304 stainless, food and medical grade, with a polycarbonate button face.
    5) Can I set how long the door stays unlocked after someone waves at the button?
    Yes. The relay latch time is adjustable from 0.5 to 20 seconds at the device, so you can run a short pulse for a strike that only needs to release, or hold a maglock dropped for a longer period on an ADA-type opening where someone needs time to get through.
    6) Is this touch-free exit button rated for a parking garage or an exterior door?
    The switch carries an IP65 protection rating, so it is sealed against dust and low-pressure water jets, and it operates from 14F to 158F (-10C to 70C). That covers unheated garages, loading docks, and covered exterior entries. Sustained temperatures below 14F are outside the stated operating range.
    7) Why use a touch-free infrared button instead of a standard mechanical push-to-exit plate?
    Two reasons drive the choice. Hygiene is the obvious one, since nobody contacts the surface, which matters in healthcare, food service, and schools. The other is wear: a mechanical plate has a moving switch that eventually fails on a high-cycle door, while an infrared sensor has nothing to press. The trade-off is that the NoTouch needs 12-24VDC power at the button, where a plain mechanical plate is just a dry contact needing no power at all. If you have no power at the box location, a mechanical plate is the simpler retrofit.
    8) Can one NoTouch button both release the door and signal our alarm or notification system?
    The contact is Form C, meaning a common with both a normally open and a normally closed leg, so a single wave can release the lock on one set and signal a second device on the other, within the 0.5A at 120VAC / 1A at 24VDC rating. That rating is switch-level, not lock-level, so a maglock or strike drawing more than 1A at 24VDC should be driven through a relay rather than directly off the button.
    9) Can I get an exit button labeled in Spanish or French, or with our own wording?
    Label choices are EXIT, OPEN, the international running man door symbol, or a custom label, available in English, Spanish, or French. On a multilingual campus or a facility standardizing signage, the running man symbol avoids the language question entirely. Every label choice is offered across all four housing sizes.
    10) Does the STI NoTouch stainless button carry any certifications?
    It is CE and UKCA certified. Those are the European and UK conformity marks covering the electrical and EMC side of the device.
