Metallics 250ROS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe size does the Metallics 250ROS one hole strap fit?
The 250ROS is sized for 2-1/2 inch rigid conduit. It's a one hole rigid pipe strap, so it wraps the conduit and fastens through a single mounting hole. Pick the strap that matches the trade size of the conduit run, not the measured outside diameter.
2) How many 250ROS straps come in a box, and can I buy just one?
The 250ROS ships as a box of 25 straps, and 25 count is the order minimum, so it's sold by the box rather than the piece. Other sizes and quantities can be arranged by request.
3) Do Metallics 250ROS straps qualify for a Buy American or ARRA job?
Yes on both counts. The 250ROS is flagged Buy American compliant and ARRA compliant, with country of origin the United States, which is what a federal, state, or institutional spec usually asks for on conduit support hardware.
4) Are mounting screws or anchors included with the 250ROS strap?
No. The box contains the steel straps only. Fasteners are chosen to suit the substrate, so plan on separate anchors or screws for concrete, block, metal deck, or wood framing.
5) Should I use a one hole strap or a two hole strap for 2-1/2 inch rigid conduit?
A one hole strap like the 250ROS fastens with a single anchor, which is faster and fine for typical horizontal and vertical runs on a solid surface. Two hole straps resist twisting better and are the usual call where a spec demands it or where the conduit sees vibration or heavy pull load. If the drawing calls out two hole, don't substitute.
6) Can I get the same Metallics strap for other conduit sizes?
Yes. The 250ROS covers 2-1/2 inch rigid, and other sizes and quantities in the same one hole rigid strap line are available by request, which is how most contractors standardize a whole job on one strap type.
7) How much does a box of 25 Metallics 250ROS pipe straps weigh?
A box of 25 comes in at 12.75 lbs, with the carton measuring 7.25 x 6.25 x 6 inches. Useful if you're staging material by floor or figuring how many boxes go on a cart.
