Thomas & Betts LT950M – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What sizes does the Thomas & Betts Bullet 90 degree liquidtight connector come in?
Four trade sizes: 1/2 inch (LT950M), 3/4 inch (LT975M), 1 inch (LT9100M) and 1-1/4 inch (LT9125M). Size the fitting to the liquidtight flexible conduit, not the box knockout.
2) Is the Bullet 90 degree liquidtight fitting metal or plastic?
Steel body with a metal screw gland, so it is a metallic fitting suitable for use with metallic liquidtight flexible conduit. The sealing element is polyamide.
3) Is this liquidtight elbow UL listed for a commercial job?
The Bullet 90 degree liquidtight connector carries UL file E23018 and is CSA certified, which covers both US and Canadian installations.
4) How does the Bullet 90 fitting attach to a box or enclosure?
It is an external male thread that passes through the knockout and is secured with a locknut on the inside. Threaded connection, not a compression or push-in hub.
5) Can I rotate the connector after it is tightened to aim the conduit?
No. The thread is non-revolving, so the elbow's direction is fixed by how far you thread it into the enclosure. Plan the approach angle before you tighten, or use a straight connector plus a separate rotating fitting if you need to swivel.
6) When should I use a 90 degree liquidtight connector instead of a straight one?
Use the 90 when the conduit has to turn immediately at the box, typically where a motor, rooftop unit or panel sits tight against a wall and a straight fitting would force too sharp a bend radius in the liquidtight hose. If you have room to sweep the conduit itself, a straight connector is simpler. The Bullet is a fixed 90 degree elbow, so it does not substitute for a 45.
7) Will this fitting seal a wet or outdoor location?
It is built as a liquidtight connector with a polyamide sealing element that grips and seals on the conduit jacket, which is the fitting type used where water, washdown or weather exposure is a concern. The connection into the enclosure is threaded, so a sealing locknut or sealing washer is the usual addition on the box side.
8) Does the Bullet liquidtight connector come with a locknut?
Order the locknut and any sealing ring separately unless your packing list shows them. The fitting itself is the steel elbow body with its screw gland and polyamide seal.
