Thomas & Betts 1490 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What sizes does the Thomas & Betts entrance ell come in?
Five trade sizes: 1/2 inch (part 1490), 3/4 inch (1491), 1 inch (1492), 1-1/4 inch (1493) and 1-1/2 inch (1494). Order by the conduit trade size you're running into the service, and the part number follows straight from it.
2) Is the Thomas & Betts 1490 entrance ell aluminum or copper?
The material on record for these entrance ells is aluminum. If your spec calls for a copper or copper-free body, verify the material against the finish requirement for the run before you set it.
3) Will a 3/4 inch entrance ell work with 3/4 inch rigid conduit?
Yes. The 3/4 inch entrance ell, part 1491, is sized to 3/4 inch trade conduit, so it threads to standard 3/4 inch rigid or IMC. Trade size is the ordering axis here, so match the fitting size to the conduit size, not to the conductor count.
