Metallics DRT24ACP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many pieces come in a pack of Metallics DRT24ACP threaded rod?
Ten rods per pack. Each is a 1/4-20 x 24 inch length, so one pack covers ten hanger points before you have to reorder.
2) Will 1/4-20 threaded rod work for hanging electrical boxes and conduit supports?
That is the common use for it. 1/4-20 is the smallest of the standard hanger rod sizes and suits light duty drops, electrical boxes, small conduit runs, and strut trapezes where the load is modest. For heavier mechanical hangers or large conduit banks, contractors typically step up to 3/8-16 or 1/2-13 rod instead.
3) What nuts and washers do I need with the DRT24ACP rod?
The rods ship on their own, so you supply the hardware. Anything with a 1/4-20 internal thread fits: 1/4-20 hex nuts, rod couplings to extend past 24 inches, and 1/4 inch flat washers at the fitting. Plan on two nuts per connection if you want a jam nut to keep the joint from backing off under vibration.
